Bane Dragons: Anyone figure out what determines there Poison Breath attack damage?

I've noticed while killing them, that different ones do different damage. I know most critters with fire breath depended on amount of HP for the damage, but it doesnt seem so with Banes, anyone speculate or have any ideas?

Untamed or Tamed? I know when you feed them stew you get a message about "Your bane dragon has returned to full power" or something along those lines.

If its wild ones your talking about could just rng at work.
