Just a thought on something new. What if cooks could make bait? Different bait for different monsters. Perhaps you could gain a few seconds of safety while they consume it, or it could put em to sleep for a fixed period.... Lots of possibilities.

does that mean it would be allowed to lure people to red gates with piles of gold????

I"ll settle for the devs revamping monster AI. It makes no sense that a Tamer can go busting into the Dojo with a gigantic Greater Dragon in tow, and immediately be aggro'd on by a damn headless? huh? The AI of monsters that should have been "surprised" is ridiculous..

Reminds me of a pipe bomb in L4D2 hehe.

It might be easier to make "bait" a land version of a net. That way you could go in the middle of no where and make a semi-private fun spawn for you and your party to kill. The AI tweaks would be interesting, but harder, I'd assume.

Why make it a subset of cooking? If it were a stand alone skill then there would be tons of people making characters so they could have the title of Master Baiter.....

A little bit of monster "fear AI" would be nice...

A Greater Dragon bites the head off a Titan and incinerates the corpse.
... then mongbat attacks Greater Dragon. Walks up to greater dragon.
*whiff* *whiff* *is squished*
Mongbat is reduced to a puddle of goo.

Unless there is a revamp of mob a.i. the idea of bait is fairly pointless. Traps might be another story, but I'd also love to see a revamp of mob a.i.

I'd love to see:

- Non-aggressive animals that run away from humans, and I mean really run.
- Aggressive animals that do occasionally attack humans.
- Carnivores that hunt other animals.
- Wolves and other appropriate mobs that hunt in packs, and get the pack bonus when they do so.
- Faster movement for all mobs. We are no longer living in a world of dialup, and now with the fix for movement speed soon to be published, it's time for all mobs to have a higher base movement rate, and the ability to run like characters. They can still be slower than player characters, but they really should be faster than the current crawl they move at.

Was thinking something along the lines of: Obtain 10 hydra scales, 10 red scales, black and so on. Bake a pie using ingredients. This is the Greater Dragon bait. Place where Greater will see it. He eats and goes non-aggro for ten minutes or so.

Other monsters, other recipes.

There are the confusion blast potions that will break the aggro on creatures in the surrounding area. It's been awhile since I messed with those they might have a timer to reuse them.

I don't know, Frightened Orcs were fun for about 5 minutes, then they just got annoying. There are some things with run away AI though, for example, Nipo the sand thief dude will run away from you, which makes it very challenging on a dexxer. But generally, no one wants to fight something that runs away. It just ends up being annoying.

I guess it might make sense if it is something rare, like a white unicorn/stag, haha.

I dont know about land monsters, but I would love to see something like this for fishing. Somehow add bait to fishingpole and have a higher chance of fishing up sea monster or krakken.
