The bait has been a joke since the beginning. I gave up ever using it ages ago... I have just as much luck just fishing.

I mean if you use bait it ought to seriously improve your chances not scarcely...

Just saying.

I think the roll of the rng is for rare fish (generic). Within rare fish there may be another roll. For example on any fishing cast, there is a chance for a rare catch. Once you roll the rare catch, there is another roll for fish type. In the deep sea the rare catch roll may be yellowtail barracuda/kingfish/blue marlin @ 45/4/1. If one were to use blue marlin bait, the odds may change to 43/4/3 or something like that. You would still catch the less rare fish on the rare fish roll, but your odds of catching a blue marlin have increased.

I have used a lot of baits, and though I was skeptical at first, I now believe they have some utility.

Agreed. Total joke and waist... just like the rest of “High Seas”. :wall:

I figure the only ones winning anything are the scripters because they get so much more of the baits and hooks then anyone else. Those of us who buy the baits or hooks... like me, never see any interesting colored landscaping stones... never see any rare fish pawn as a result of the bait... even with that new “wonder suit”, the one that increases the bait odds. Great stuff. Not.

Ya burned through like 700 Zombie Fish bait and nothing. While using Holy Mac bait caught a Zombie Fish. Tried using the fishing suit with stinky bait and caught nothing with other baits.

Most the scripters don't do the quest. They make more selling the fish and more so the crabs and lobsters. Trapping wouldn't be so bad if a Giant Mutant Crab spawned nipping at our nose. Another chance for MIBs couldn't hurt. With a rare chance at a crustacean carpace shield. They need a larger deep sea trap bought from NPC for bigger hauls. Same NPC sells repair deeds for the trap with some kind of durability. Rather my gold went to feeding the NPC's kids then some scripter's.

to shamelessly bump and comment.

On these notes i have noticed that the bait suit does seem to work quiet well with low end special fish.
IE the ones we catch regularly with no bait.
Allthough the suit should go the other way ...
Shrugs, i guess i will just burn more bait.
But It sure would be nice to get some developer programer to comment.....

If you mainly want to go for hooks, use a fisher in a classic boat. You should get only 1 liners then. That would greatly reduce the number of fishes used for each hook. If you limit yourself to a gm fisher, you even wouldnt asked for dungeon fishes.
(Actually I havent tested this theory, but it sounds like it could work. :D )

I have a legendary fisherman with the fisherman's suit and I do better catching rare fish without bait than with bait so I think the bait idea is broken.
