I have a question about the new bag, i saw it on provisioner but would like to know more about it, by what it states it will take look and break it down to basic resources if i am understanding that correctly. With that being said do you need the smith/tailor skill to use it or can i say use my fighter or tamer and just drop the loot i dont want on the bag and it will unravel it? I appreciate responses. Sorry if its a stupid question :)

it only does ingots and cloth. I think you have to have the appropriate skill to get the full benefit from the bag.

In the olden days...

We had to smelt each smithed item... or cut up each tailored item... while building tailoring/smithing skills. If you craft right in this bag, a small menu will appear when you single click on it that lets you cut up or smelt the whole bag worth in 1 shot. Wish it was around a long time ago.

Its a convenience item, it doesn't have any special powers or anything, other than making things easier for you. So yes, you still need the skills.

Unravelling already has the 'unravel container' in the options to do this for you.

The Salvage Bag is(was) designed to give you a bonus in resources returned, but one of the recent "patches" "fixed" it so you don't get a bonus anymore.

There used to be an unravel bag but a patch rendered them normal bags and gave us the ability to unravel any regular bag of stuff and as far as I know they aren't for sale anymore so it must be the salvage bag. They are great for macroing blacksmithing but what I use them for now is junk metal loot that I collect off monsters goes in the bag and then my smith will smelt it all.

It is for imbuing, so whatever character uses it needs to have imbuing to get the full resources of the item. Easier to just use the unravel container in the imbuing menu.

Higher your imbuing will yield more resources and also the different types (magical residue, enchanted essence and relic fragments). These resources are used as ingredients along with other resources you collect in game (mostly in the abyss) when you imbue an item.

I hope that helps.

He's talking about the Salvage bag -

Essentially, it's a much faster Recycle Bag than UOAssist, that you don't have to have UOAssist for (part of the reason it was introduced was to give the EC Recycle Bag functionality). IT also has the ability to recycle some of the bugged leather items that you can't do otherwise (some items won't recycle normally if they are the wrong facing than the default crafted/sold variety).

As noted by others, it used to give 1 more ingot back per smith-type item as a DESIGN FEATURE, until the current set of devs decided it was a "bug" and nerfed it.

It's still well worth the 1252 GP for it.

The Unravel Bag disappeared 2 years ago, when they replaced it with the "unravel container" button in the Imbuing gump, and even those already existing are just normal bags now.

So, something else they "fixed", huh? Great.

These came out like right after I built my 3rd cafter with 120s in tailor/smithing... so its been totaly useless to me. Fill a few smithing bods now and then, whatever rubbish that doesn't make the cut goes this way... but not like it makes a dif. :spider:

I think bags should let us unravel, adjusted by our Imbuing skill, and recover the Same % as carp, smith,or tailor.
Ex. If you could recover 40-50% of relic frags it took to make something, I think you'd see the immediate end of all that impossibly rated 'high-end' Shame mob loot. Back to playing something simpler is fine w/ me.

and to add to my prev. post... I think smiths/miners could the same bag to get re-hued essence from colored raw resources and ingots, to enhance items to whatever elemental percentage(s) we want, to compliment the current oddly proportioned and fixed values. Remember currently, there's a 70% Fail rate, per elemental - so for 3 elementals that change, that's (3) 70% chances to have your item/work go Poof - simply put, Stop It! Then, make it all work for Carp in a similar manner.
