[Imbuing] Back from break, and have some questions

Ok, so I've been reading the forums for the last couple days, some I get and some I don't yet.

1. I'm not a gargoyle and don't think I want to be, unless it really makes that much difference in success rate. Does it?

2. Where do I get a soul forge and can it be placed in my house for training?

3. Is there a special bag needed to unravel multiple items or just any bag. If it's special where do i get it?

4. Would this make sense for training? Train imbueing on a PvM character so I could collect a pack full of items then unravel and return to collecting items.

5. Should I save higher end items to unravel for later when my skill is higher so I have a chance at getting better items? What's the cut off based on skill level for number of properties/intensities of items I should be unravelling?

6. Do I need to have any other skills on my imbuer? Like will I need to have blacksmithing on there to know how to imbue a sword?

7. Is there a master list of what item adds which property?

Thanks

1) Gargoyles get a racial bonus to imbuing at the queens forge and bonus when enhancing items, it is up to you if you think you going to be enhancing many items you might want a gargoyle. You can imbue up to 5 mods on any imbuable item as you at mods your chance to add another goes down, also the higher intensity of the mod also can lower your success (example it is easier to imbue 1% lower mana cost than to put max lmc on one item)

2) you can make one with a blacksmith (though not 100%) it is one of the craft skills or you can most likely buy a deed from a player vendor, try luna

3) any container will do

4) Not really but it is up too you, it could work

5) Yes, I just tried to unravel evverything with my collecting character, those items that did not unravel I saved in a bag for my imbuer, as my skill went up I started getting essense instead/with residue

6) Not necessary but nice to have for example 120 Blacksmithing, 120 tailor, 100 armslore, 100 tinker on a crafting character. so you could make, imbue and enhance an entire suit for any of your other characters without having to store item, log out, log in other character and finish with the item.

7) Yes, it is in uhall at top, labelled SA ingredients and their uses or something to that effect.

Thanks for the detailed reply. So if I attempt to unravel an item that would give a relic and my skill is not high enough, it just won't do it? It won't just give me the low level stuff and trash the weapon right? I have a ton of weapons that I made with high end runics, verite+ that I'd like to unravel since the mods didn't hit right, all were made with iron.

If you can't unravel you can't unravel it however if you are a gargoyle or use the queens forge then you will get better results. If you have iron weapons that are good but not quite good enough you might be able to imbue them to make them better. Some imbuers save stuff that is high end to enhance with metal prior to unraveling in order to aquire more relic fragments. So it may be that you can unravel something and get essence but if you were a gargoyle and using the queens forge you might get a relic fragment. And it is also likely that some stuff that you unravel will yeild essence but if enhanced with metal or leather it will yeild relic fragments (or go poof when you enhance it). For training you don't want to be a gargoyle since it will raise the level of stuff you have to do to gain. My imbuer picked up magery and inscription to help get the loyalty points needed to use the queens forge for imbuing. You can use it for unraveling any time (or so I hear).

I'm assuming you mean enhancing with a colored metal or leather? What exactly does that do in the world of unraveling? Does it count as another mod I guess?

The items I'm looking to unravel already have 4 or 5 mods that don't work together so I think my only option would be to unravel them since they can't be removed, right? But if I enhance them say with a colored ingot that will boost what they will produce when unraveled?

I think so but maybe just using dull copper might work. You need to add weight to the item so enhancing with something that adds another property allows you to increase the weight above what you can with imbuing if it's right at that border. I have not done much of this yet, so I am not much of an expert on it. Many others know far more abou it than me. Hopefully they will speak up.

This is why I trained an crafting gargoyle and just used my pvm pally to gather items. I have zero real skill on my pally, I just filled a bag/pouch inside his main backpack went home when full used the soulforge in my house, if it did not unravel I saved it to another bag stored in my house and be unravelled by my gargoyle as I trained him. even then there were items I could not unravel since my imbue skill was not high enough, I saved these items yet again, raised my skill, attempted to unravel with higher skill.

Bottom line, I hit legendary before they made changes to gaining skill through unraveling. Read on this site people getting near gm by just unraveling but I can not confirm that.

It took me ~25,000 amber, ~25,000 citrines and ~30,000 residue to get there.

Also unless you have a ton of gold do not buy a 120 imbue scroll, just do the quest to turn in 50 magical essence 10 times which will give you 10 (115 imbue power scrolls) then either make or buy a scrollbinder deed once you combine the 10 (115) it will turn into a 120 scroll.
