Attention PvP Hunters

I would like to get feedback from PvP hunters, especially those who frequent battlegrounds.

I am a level 34 Orc hunter with a level 33 humar. I am interested in PvP and in going to battlegrounds.

I would like to know what is the best talent for what I am planning on doing. I have heard that heavy pointing in Beastmastery is the way to go followed by markmanship. I have put claw and dash on my cat.

I am just not sure if my cat is going to be strong enough to take and deal most of the damage.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

I'm going straight down the beast mastery tree, myself. I love the heavy armor and bits of regen, not to mention Bestial Wrath.

While both my pet and I die constantly, those extra few seconds of damage (that my pet can take with the added armor) can win or loose it.

I have a 60 NE hunter. I love to pvp(rank11). I have found that Marksman is the way to go for me. I am spec'ed 13/38/0. This allows me to give 13 "toughness" points to my cat. I use my pet to disrupt casters, mostly. Having a pet with quick attack speed is a must(1.5 or better). If you can get a wolf or cat that teaches "dash", do it. Getting your pet to the target quickly is essential to keep the element of surprise on your side. The other points are for damage dealing. The 38 points in Marksman make my hunter a killing machine.

I have most points in Marksman so i can deal as much damage as possible. I have True Shot Aura(located near the bottom of Marksman skills) which grants 100 more attack power to me and my party members.

I also have an Eaglehorn bow that has 1.8 speed and does 32 dps. A fast bow/gun is essential in pvp. This allows you to get as many shots off as possible before the target realizes that you are hitting it and comes after you. Faster attack speed also means you have a faster chance to crit. I can't remember the top end damage of my weapon but it isnt ridiculously high. Having that damage be a bit lower is good as you dont want to pull aggro off the tank in AV or other instances. You will use more arrows than slower bows but I think it's worth it.

I've found that a balance of BM and MM is good for soloing and grinding XP. Heavy MM is best for pvp.

Also remember to take a look at your buttons on your screen. Moving some to better locations and making some hot keys is beneficial as well.

I have a LvL 60 Night Elf hunter, I PvP a lot and spend a considerable ammount of time grinding for honor in battlegrounds.

At the moment I am 100% markmanship specced, have a few (decent) epic items and a good hot-key system. My pet (STV Panther) has had all of its training points spent on extra armour, health, frost and arcane resistance.

I am pretty handy in a group fight, extra nasty in an ambush but almost useless in toe-to-toe combat. I have found that my pet is best saved for finishing off a badly wounded caster who is trying to run and this allows me to switch my efforts onto a fresh enemy.

Its horses for courses really as I know other hunters who, due to player skill and better equipment, can kick butt far more efficiently than I can.

Still, its all about learning I suppose.

I would suggest spending all of your points in beast mastery until you hit lvl 60 (this is arguably the best method for grinding) then you can play around in the battlegrounds before deciding if you want to re-spec or stick with BM.
