EA apparently fired a bunch of folk and now we are hearing how they cant do this and that cause they would need blah amount of hours for something that won't be that popular. I cant find the exact thread. Anyways...after doing art for Metaplace worlds, I learned that isometric drawing ain't all that hard. lots of instructions online. Not only that, there are some great 3D programs available online for free. The first few online lessons will get ya making simple things that could be used in UO.

So what about this: Take one of the great ideas out there and hold a contest for art. You'll have to release the angle numbers for the iso drawing or 3D program camera angle.... and maybe an official color palette, tho I am doubting that cause my tintable objects in Metaplace seem to be the same or similar colors as we have here.

An easy example: below is a framed screencap made into a portrait. Below that it has been skewed ( a common paint program setting ) making it ready to drop into an iso world. You can see how by changing the skew setting you could easily make a cube, or even something more complex. Add some textures or simple drawing and you have an object.

What exactly are those skewed images used for again?
Iam not sure I understand your example or this post in general :)

Ever wonder why North on the Radar is 45 degrees clockwise from actual North? Everything in UO is.

if you look at the walls in UO and any pictures that go on the walls, they are skewed at an angle.

My point is, yes game artists charge a lot for thier time. HOwever, this is not to very hard to do for those who might wish to volunteer thier time.

I just saw that there is an ask the devs section, can someone move this there please?

I think you have to repost it there as other replies are not allowed in the "Ask the devs"
