armor type stamina loss vs mana regen?

I'm re-building my suit for my Sampire, which will be using the template Lynx published circa Apr 2011 -- basically, a 60-Parry, chain-AI'ing Fencer. Patch 80 in mid-Apr this year featured Armor Revamp --
Player’s stamina loss will now be based on the type of armor as well as the amount of armor that is equipped
and
Blacksmith armor (platemail, ringmail, chainmail, and dragon armor) will provide a heavy bonus to stamina loss reduction. Studded leather armor, stone armor, bone armor, woodland armor, and hide armor will provide a light bonus to stamina loss reduction.
I was going to make Woodland armor but I believe that a mix of metal armor would be easier to make and it has a 'heavy' bonus vs stam loss when hit over Woodland armor's 'light' bonus... but does anyone know if the metal armor will significantly affect my mana regen (and chain-AI'ing capability)? I would really hate to invest the time, effort, and gold in building a suit to find out that its borked for the purpose, ya know?

I still use woodland armor on my sampire and don't notice a stamina loss at all. I'm also going to rebuild my suit but this time I'm planning on using studded leather for the extra LMC.

I was using Woodland armor's +5% Hit Chance across 4 pieces, +15% Hit Chance on a Turquoise ring, and +10% Hit Chance on the Conjurer's Trinket to reach the 45% cap... tho I'll probably re-do w/o Conjurer's Trinket and use Primer of Arms (and lose the +10% Hit Chance) since I think wearing that full time will put me at a damage vulnerability against anything not Undead. Then I'd prob look at getting the extra 10% Hit Chance from a bracelet. Are you not capping out on your Hit Chance? At least Woodland armor makes putting that bonus on a lot easier.

Nope, I have 5 HCI reforged on 3 armor parts and 15 on both jewels = 45 HCI. Then I added 8lmc, 8 stamina increase and then 8 mana increase on the parts. The remaining 2x armor parts I reforged 5 DCI then again 15 dci each jewel. Add the corgul sash and I'm also at 45 DCI.

I also use the primer on arms talisman along with some DI on jewels. 35 DI on my weapons to hit 100 DI in total (with weapon).

This brings up a question. If I put on 5 pieces of plate armor, it shows 5 LMC in the gump. If I imbue 6 LMC on one of the pieces, it shows that I have 10 LMC in the gump. Do you loose the inherited 1 LMC when you imbue LMC?

No you don't lose the inherent LMC.

Make sure you don't have Mage Armor on a piece as that will negate the 1 LMC bonus of plate.

I had started a new thread but perhaps it makes more sense to ask here. You mentioned that mage armor on a piece negates it new armor type benefit? SO if I have a plate tunic with mage armor does it count as a leather tunic then, or is every piece in the game with mage armor on it now temporarily nerfed? (un nerfable for a 'small' fee..as in small to some of you all, but not to a newer account) Just want to nail this down because it seems there are a lot of useful pieces that were in my price range that just became crappier

Hi,

The best way to look at the armor, is "How do you intend on using it". Just because it is mage armor, does not mean it is nerfed. It is not a good piece for a warrior with the current armor changes, but it is still a viable piece if you want plate and be able to use mana regen.

Sorry to pull up old thread, just wondering for my abc archer and these new changes. I am just starting and have a starter suit and am looking towards the future. Should I consider studded leather at this point and put my med points into focus and top off some other skills. I have mace & shield so that leaves 5 pieces that I could get an additional 15 lmc from if I understand correctly? So I would end up with lmc 65?

Ok so then if Armor Ignore for example costs me 25 (30 - 5 for 1st tier mana reduction) and so 65% lower is like final mana cost 8.75 and that saved me 3.75 mana per special from the additional 15%which having meditation at gm would regenerate me that over like 8 seconds.

Im not as good at the numbers game as some of yall. I guess my first question is this designed to balance out so it doesnt really matter what I do?
Are those of you with archers using studded now at all?

You will get 55% LMC in a studded suit (40+15).
Armor ignore will cost you 11.25 (22.50 when you use it within 3 sec after the first one)

Armor ignore uses 20 mana after the 10 point reduction from the combined 300 points of Swords, Parrying, and Bushido. With 55 LMC, Armor ignore will cost you 9 (18 when you use it within 3 sec after the first one).

CaptainLu has 5 point reduction so Armor Ignore uses 25 mana.

Ya I cant see many practical ways fo an archer to get the 2nd tier of mana reduction, w/ 120 archery and if I do 120 Bushido I still need 60 points and nothing else I could add would work out except some ninjitsu I reckon. The Lmc appears to be working out well though and I dont miss the mediation except at super long fights and champ spawn type thing. For daily hunting though I sometimes dont appear to use mana at all because it regens the little I used fast enough
