I am having the same problem... I keep crashing to the desktop when I try to run windows mode.

Can someone who is able to play windows mode with multiple sims post the Target line from their shortcut?

Please no responses on how I should suck it up, how full-screen mode is fine, etc. I just want to figure out how to fix this and I don't want to have to shuffle through the fluff.
Thanks if you can help!

CG posted a fix in the other thread on crashing to desktop. It worked for me. Just need to take out a few things.
Here -

I will post this to help the other players in the game, but damn it pisses me off that I am the one to do it instead of a developer who prefers to hide than hear the complaining this update is going to cause.

To get to your target line, right click the icon you use to enter the game, click on properties, the top line of the window that opens should be your target line. Remove -r800x600 or any other numbers it may have there, I know some use different sizes. I never had that other part in my target, the app??? thing so not sure what it is for. My target line now is:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims Online\TSOPatch\TSO.exe"

This one is for the client in EA Land only, you only need this IF you run more than one account, always use the first to make sure you are updated to newest version before you use the client:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims Online\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-CSCity:EA Land"

If you have the new ea land install, the first part will be different, but that's ok, you only need worry about the end part.

You should be able to get in game, and I hope all of you who hate this big friggin window as much as I do, tell the devs about it.

The only way I'm able to play in windowed mode was to raise my resolution. My second account has the greyed out sims that I can't play. I can't get the shortcuts to work either.

If you remove 800x600 I am left with full screen mode. Thank you but it hasn't gotten me past this!

Perhaps if you were a bit more specific, when you said you wanted windowed mode, you meant 800x600. So then ppl wouldn't post on how to play the larger 'windowed' mode.

I don't want to play a larger window, i want 800x600 back.

Oh my apologies... I assumed anyone who plays EALand now, played TSO then. Anyone who did would understand that I meant windows mode when I said windows mode. The DEFAULT windows mode as specified by the shortcut in your start menu that is put in place at installation is 800x600. But you're so right I should have specified, I just cannot assume everyone has played since before EALand. *bows down*

Here ya go drew.......I'm in XP, the shortcuts for Vista are a little bit different and I can't remember which you are running, but here are my two shortcuts"

1st Account, from the EA Land window desktop icon:

"D:\EA GAMES\TSOPatch\TSO.exe" -w

all subsequent instances running from TSOClient:

"D:\EA GAMES\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" -r1024x768 -w "-CSCity:Test Center 3"

*note: substitute EA Land after the semicolon if you want to play there instead*

Using those shortcuts I always play in a window without problems, even after the updates. *knock on wood that it keeps working*

If you put your screenresolution to 1280 x 1024

and your target line in TSOclient to "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EALand\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" -r1024x768 -w "-CSCity:EA Land"

Then you can play windowed mode

Here is how your targets ought to read. I am at this moment playing with these IN window mode, so I know they work:

TSO Patch (1st account:

"D:\EA GAMES\TSOPatch\TSO.exe" -w

TSO Client (subsequent accounts):

"D:\EA GAMES\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" -r1024x768 -w "-CSCity:Test Center 3"

substituting EA Land for Test Center 3 if that is where you want to be. The turd in the punch bowl is the 800x600 res. Playing in 1024x768 all the while I've had NO changes in gameplay over the last couple weeks, FWIW.

TY Sugar and Frenchee! I am using XP and my laptop doesn't support any resolution other than the one that is giving me full screen mode.

Now that they have stated it is a bug I am sure I will be able to have my window's (800x600) mode back!! TY for all of the help though

I run EA Land on 2 computers,

On first Comp - Laptop, Vista, 1280x800 Screen resolution;

Patch Shortcut - "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA-Land\TSOPatch\TSO.exe" "-AppArgs: -r1280x800"
Loads and plays in a 1024x768 window.

Client Shortcut - "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA-Land\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-CSCity:EA Land" "-r1280x800"
Loads and plays in a 1024x768 window

On Second Comp (First Install) - PC, XP SP2, 1280x1024 screen resolution;
Patch Shortcut - "D:\The Sims Online\TSOPatch\TSO.exe" "-r1280x1024"
Loads and plays in a 1024x768 window

Client Shortcut - "D:\The Sims Online\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-CSCity:Test Center 3" "-r1280x1024"
Loads and plays in a 1024x768 window

On Second Comp (Second Install) - PC, XP SP2, 1280x1024 screen resolution;

Patch Shortcut - D:\EA-Land\TSOPatch\TSO.exe -r1280x1024
Loads and plays in a 1024x768 window

Client Shortcut - D:\EA-Land\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe "-CSCity:EA Land" -r1280x1024
Loads and plays in a 1024x768 window

As you can see i have a variety of different endings on my shortcuts and they all work fine. 1024x768 is as big a window as you are going to get from EA at the moment. hence it will launch in window mode anyway. Standard window mode is also now 1024x768. If your resolution is set to 1024x768 or lower it will run full screen unless you add the -w -r800x600.

Hope this helps you all.
