Are people still leaving UO or has the exodus slowed down?

I was a long time UO player, and quit due to a combination of RL reasons and feeling as if I had "beat the game" (accumulated so much wealth/items and did pretty much everything from pvm to pvp, etc). The in game economy had a little to do with it too.

Anyways, my question is, have people continued to leave UO? I remember around the time I quit, it seemed like, left and right, others were quitting too. And hows the in game economy nowadays? (how much RL $ = 1 million gold?)

I think most who were going to go already left ... well, some of those who left are still here and some of those here are a little out of it ... but it all ... wait where was I?

Not real sure about leaving but I have seen a lot of new or returning players. Helped 2 last night on Cats get going.

Your question really seems to depend on the shard. Atlantic and several others are quite busy with regular new/returning players. I have heard some others are virtual ghost towns.

P.S. - Stratics no longer allows the sale of, or the advertising for the sale of gold for RL$. You'll have to look elsewhere for that info.

Nobody quits UO, they just think they do. :coco:
They all come creeping back, talking about how the pretty picture's of new games just didn't have any soul in them. :danceb:

I've already met quite a few fellow European players on Atl - seems like many are willing to sacrifice a bit of ping for a more lively shard. So aye some are ghost towns and quite depressing.

Yes, we've had a big boost in returning players who have joined our guild. We're probably more active now than we've ever been, but I'm only speaking for my own guild.

Lately I've seen more people returning than leaving.

And those of my friends who have left in the last couple months are simply "taking a break" and plan to come back for SA.

You still have people that leave here and there of course. That is in any game. Lately on the Europa shard alot of former Vets are returning and if you stand in Haven you can see the newbie machine spit out newbies quite a bit now. They spawn in one spot its kinda funny in a way. hehe

We are having a massive return of players on Chesapeake. New Haven is our second most populated bank on Chesapeake. Seems the world is so big people are all over now heh.

I went from a populated shard (Lake Superior) to a more populated shard (Great Lakes).

So from my perspective not only have people stopped leaving, it almost seems like they are coming back.

Now granted, it might be that these people always had accounts, and thus their "return" isn't helping Mythic's bottom line.

But, we have every reason to think that UO remains profitable, and for us as players, the greater numbers of people is pretty-clearly a good thing.

Having said this? Population has always varied widely by shard, and now that UO's subscriptions are well down from their peak (we'll never, ever, ever regain our peak and we need to deal with it), the disparity is more noticeable than it was in, say, the earlier part of the decade.
