Here is what parallax said:

The inherent LMC and Stamina Loss Protection bonuses of armor are based on the type of armor. The Paladin armor is classified as Metal/Plate, so it will provide those bonuses when equipped (1% LMC, and High Stam Loss Protection).

It is currently not possible to copy the armor "type" of a converted piece. Meaning, we cannot apply studded/bone passive armor bonuses to plate armor. It's just not how the system works.

If your source armor is medable, the resulting Paladin armor piece will have the Mage Armor property applied automatically. This property can later be removed if you so choose by visiting a Mage Guildmaster to remove it.

There are certain restrictions in place that are true among all Transmogrify systems (Potions/Arcane Outfitter), which prevent refined or transmogged armor pieces from being a valid transmog source.

What does this mean?

If you convert Studded, Bone or Hide, you will lose the +3 LMC. It will change to +1 LMC.

If your mage uses Medable Armor, then it will work for you because the plate will have Mage Armor.
The Mage armor property can be removed later.

I do have a really nice leather gorget on a guy, I guess he will get +1LMC on it.

Wow, that's....horrible. Won't get much business from any sampire with this kind of crappy programming.

I could be wrong as I haven't transmogged anything for a head slot, but does the logic for the paladin suits work differently than the head slot? IIRC - you can take something like a bone helm (+3 LMC) and transmog to like a wizard hat and it keeps the +3 LMC property from the bone helm; is that right??

If that is correct then what Parallax said isn't very consistent...then again... inconsistency is the only thing consistent in UO. :D

Seems like an odd thing considering it’s just an aesthetic change to the paperdoll, but at least it sounds like you also get the Stamina Loss Reduction of plate.

Many people go with bone/studded specifically for the +3 LMC... it's a largely a downgrade....and one that costs RL cash.

If that's the course they are going that's fine... but I hope they keep that same thought in mind if/when they introduce a "Beserker suit" that's all bone and every piece of armor your convert (even plate/leather/etc) will gain the +3 LMC. Something tells me they would figured out how to "fix it" if that were the case.

Transmog requires the target to have the same LMC property as the source. You can turn a bone helmet into a dragon helm. Can't turn a bone helmets into cloth items.

Can't turn a wizard hat into metal target by transmog.

Ah ok - wasn't sure if that was the case. Thanks

Because of that, there are not a lot of Helmet choices with LMC 3. Dragon Helm, Bone helm is all I can think of. All the special headwear are medable, Pumpkin head, Bake Kitsune.
