Anyone seen the 2011 Christmas gifts yet?

Sorry if this has been asked already… just I can NEVER find anything in this massive section. rolleyes:

I really hope this “Customizable House type signs”… are like the brass plaque signs you see in towns sometimes. I’ve been wanting these for a very long time. Perfect for establishments… next to doors, when you have different doors, to help guide or explain why doors or locked. AND perfect for both standard house teleporters… and house to house teleporters. The biggest pain about those H2H ones… all we have to label them is books locked just on top.

With that massive download we got the other day, I already checked the “InsideUO” program and saw nothing new in the art file. Hope they didn’t forget. Even if it's the old style signs, they would have those new floor mats & that talking Santa. I didn’t see anything.

I was asking if anyone had seen them, as in previews, hints, or graphics.

I never assumed we were getting them a full month early. It's just how it works out sometimes, spoilers will dish the dirt.

I saw the house sign... not exactly what I was hoping, but cool none-the-less.

Issue... I don't know if I'm alone. I see it has room for 3 lines on it... as long as it's in your backpack, you can see it? Why cant it be viewed locked down? It also has security... but you can't read it no matter if you are on the owner chr in the owner's own house.

Funny wise... I want a "welcome" mat that says "Go away!" on it. hehe. Just like real life.

lol... The first one I picked was the rounded welcome mat. Looks great, but there's one small problem -- when I try to go back in the house, I can't. For some reason it blocks me from reentering. Maybe it doesn't like houses with only a single front door.

Edit: I went back in and fooled with the decorator tool. It seems to work after lowering it two times. I like the way it looks. Will take a screenshot later (it's 4:36 a.m. and I'm nodding off at the computer).

I cannot use the Santa Statue it says "I must be the owner to use this" I have tried 3 of them with the three characters that picked them... and says the same message

The SOT book has to be locked down? What happens when you release it with SOTs inside? I wonder why it doesn't work the way a BOD book works? Thanks in advance.

This may be an honor bug ... from the Players Corner FAQ:

Why can't I lock down or secure items in my house when friends and co-owners can? It just started to occur.
Got a pet ... like a horse or something? Try locking it down. If you get a message related to honoring then you've apparently honored something (perhaps even in your house!). Locate a "quick" kill (cow, sheep, bull), honor it and kill it. You should now be able to lock/secure items once more.

I assume it works this way to prevent people from taking the insured book (is it insurable or even blessed?) to a champ spawn and immediately add all the SoTs they got to the book not to lose them in case of death.

The Book is blessed. The champ way of getting away with SoTs prevention using the book, good thinking on their part. Just need to have BOD books work this way with the lockdown drop and pull feature.

The rotating names on the gift card is great. Should only have the cards aquired the first week after release do this. Others gotten later get random name it keeps. Lower the value of the gift tickets for those that multi shard hoard gifts for later sales.

Biggest gripe I have about the gift ticket. No year on it. Looks like last years ticket right down to the color. No year on it either. Years down the road wanting the ice statues players will be greifed by this ticket. Not that one player would do that to another player in UO. WOW yes, but not UO.

Next year lets go down memory lane. Xmas tree ticket that is dark grey for negative Karma players. Sorta like the coal from ages back. Say BahHumBug by it and it burst into flamse and does a smoke ring like the dread warhorse. Reappears on a timer to relieve more of the seasons stress. Guess the Merry plays can have a tree that fires off fireworks or something, but you know where they can stick their tree..... Thinking of the holidays, Skrooge AKA Grinch.

T'was a nice change NOT to have previewed any spoilers on the graphics this year. I just opened my selected Santa Statue and was absolutely delighted with the style chosen for this gift. Really classy & nice - Thanks! Nifty cards too

I guess I just assumed the book would be cursed. I saw in another thread that you can only add to it while it's locked down. As long as it still stores everything when it's in a container, then it's all good.

I don't know about the mats, but I was messing around with a sign on TC and was able to change the text.

You can edit the text on the mats but once you pick round or squared that is what it reverts to in deed form.
Also the mat says welcome, and your text is shown in tool tip when you hover the mouse over it.

Both mats are ugly.

If you don't lower the mat, though, you can get out but not back in. Perhaps it's only a problem if the door opens directly unto the steps, rather than onto a level porch or yard?

I believe that when you want to have a character turn a statue on or off, the character with the statue (in its backpack) has to be standing inside a house owned by that character's account.

This problem exists when they changed the arcane circle artwork too, If its directly on the tile next to the steps you cannot enter. It's because the graphic raises your character.

I couldn't dye the square welcome mat either. Tried every tub and then tried plant dyes, it didn't dye. The half moon or half circle ones dye nicely, atm just opted for red and green on those two, tis the season.

I didn't have any issues with either of the mats blockin me in/out of my doors.
Perhaps it is our door style too, I use SE doors.

Glad that lowering the one sq mat, for those that had issues, is working for some folks though.

I don't know what happened... but the signs work now. hehe. It's like I said, they will work great for doorsides and next to house to house teleporters. I'll do more testing with them later.

I didn't even know the door-mats had text, but I had made a comment about the actual text on the mat itself. Still, they are very nice. All of them are. This is the best batch of gifts ever, in my book. Many thanks to the staff.
