Is there supposed to be an event this weekend to kill the Defiler? Several shards have a "Demise of the Defiler" event planned for Saturday evening.
Also, a post made by EM Dudley in the Chesapeake EM forum indicates EM Drosselmeyer returns on August 10th. Don't know if that means he'll show up on Siege or not.

I doubt we will get any big UO story based events planned for this weekend.

From what I've read so far on U.Hall, it sounds like there will be a clickable dispenser that gives you a Defiler hand or something like that. No idea if there's stuff to fight though or where the fight happens. I think things kick off at the Ter Mur gate, but no idea if that's where the Defiler dies or not.

I checked the island overrun with Minions on Siege this morning and yes, it's still heavily populated with minions and toxic slith. I also found a blocked passageway on the far west side of the island that might be where the Europa folks went for the battle with the Defiler on their shard. (Marked a rune to be able to go back later, assuming no minion goes and stands on it. LOL)
I ran around the Royal City on Europa a little bit last night (it has also had the event) and didn't spot the dispenser. There was still a book locked down by the Ter Mur moongate announcing the event, something we don't have (yet). Didn't have time to look any further on Europa but may try tonight. It didn't appear that the dispenser was in the Castle unless it's in a less-than-obvious place, nor by the moongate or the bank. My guess is that it's on the island. I also don't know if defeating the Defiler makes the minions leave or not. Will try to do a little more investigating on Europa this evening. Maybe in the meantime someone will post more info for another shard.
Edited to add: Found notes for Baja's event and it sounds like it went differently. Also note that I couldn't find any structures among the minions that looked like the ones in both these threads. Also don't know if the minions are gone on Baja....will try to check that too. If they're gone, I guess that means the first quest with the queen cannot be completed with no minions to slay, right?

I imagine other shards also had the event but no one has bothered to post anything about how it went on their shards. Atlantic's event occurred over 24 hours ago and there's nothing in the Atlantic forum or their EM forum describing how it went.

I checked on Athenium Island on a few shards this afternoon and found that all of them still have minions. However, only Siege still has the statues of Scelestus the Defiler and Rhista, the queen's daughter. Even Formosa, a shard whose EM program also falls under Mesanna (not the Japanese team) and that is just as often ignored by the EMs as Siege, does not have the statues. I don't know if this means they had the event this weekend or not. Maybe the statues are placed by the EMs and the fact that we have them means an EM is planning to show up and Formosa doesn't have the statues because it has no EM to place them? Who knows!!
