Any reason my pet had 2400 points at first level rather than 1501?

Just trained up a deer to level 2, and it had 2400 or so points (not sure how many exactly) is that regular?

Also, god damn the taming requirements are severe. I can't even apply all of those points because I only have 105 taming on this character. It's gonna take like 110 taming for a 2 slot pet here. :/

Do you have to spend all the points before you can start training the next level? Cause I can't. :(

I believe it's tied to the overall/starting strength of the pet - the 3+ slot pets I've trained up all have 1500 points per level.

Yeah, I did a 2-3 and it was 1500. Wonder if 1-4's get a boost on the first level. Might make them potentially superior in some cases?

Though I have to say, the 2-3 I trained actually had worse stats at time of level up than the 1-3. :/

Yes, you need to use all the points to train next level.

What do you do if you have just 1 or a few points leftover with no place to allocate them, or at least I don't know how to do it.

Well that's frustrating, since I probably need 110 taming to even spend my points, and that will take ages to get. :/

I did lizardmen till around 10, but that was just to get all of it's stats to 125, and wrestling to 80+. That actually went pretty quick, it gained pretty frequently, if only .04%. From there I had another pet tank rotting corpses for him. Gains are wayyy less frequent so takes forever but it's the easiest method for me, as I don't have any "good" pets to tank anything better with. Basically I just killed them till a paragon showed. 2 paragons, many hours, and like 2k bandages later, got to 100.

add one mana or one dex I guess. :/

I don't know why you are forced to spend them all at once. I'd like to keep training my pet while I wait for my taming gains to be able to upgrade it.

Same here, I trained my slime and it got 2400 points.

And thank you, your guide was really helpful! It took two paragon rotting corpses to reach 100% beginning from like 6%.

Now the only issue is that I have no idea which option I will gonna train this sticky friend. :(

Nice! I thought of doing a slime too, as a dragon killing slime would be rather humorous. Right now I'm rocking the dragon killing deer, which is also pretty funny, and only at level 2. He can kill greater dragons with effort (250 ish health, just gm wrestling, and only 30 tactics or so) but at upgrade I can see them being less of a challenge. Once you do get the resists up, fighting GD will zoom up the training, at about 15% per at level 2, so if you can tank those with a 2 or 3 slotter, I would try them instead of RC's for low level training.

I want to make a two slot raven with 120 wrestling, disarm, and dismount. That should be a fun time. :p

Yea, that might be the reason. Didn't think of this.
The stats on it were a catastrophe though, it could barely manage killing an Ettin and that took a while.

Yup, I know how that goes. Imagine my sadness when my dire wolf turned into a two slot with the stats of a 1 slot. Impossible to level without something else tanking.

Oh, thank you for the reply! I checked it just now.

Raven sounds cool. I also tried training birds, but I was too hasty to send my un-bonded birds to the battlefield and then they died ;( Good luck to your training!
