Any advice on my chiv/mage?

I've been working on a chiv/mage for a few days now and I'm nearing completion of the skills. I plan to mainly use for farming up faction silver and some light pvp action. So far my template goes......

110 Focus (For added mana regen)
110 Meditation
102.8 Magery
100.6 Magic Resist
100 Evaluating Intelligence
100 Inscription
70.5 Chivalry

I would also like to do some champ spawns... Is there any skills I should add or decrease from this template? I would be willing to take away focus or magic resist, but I would like to keep the chiv for the 4/6 FC/FCR.....

Thanks for any advice and tips!

Also it should be noted that I will be using my 2 vollems for taking down the monsters for the silver... ty

Hmmm I was just reading that when you combine chiv/magery it caps ur FC/FCR at 2/6..... I thought I had read earlier that together when combined they brought it upto 4/6? I guess I got my info wrong, I could swap chiv for Mysticism if that is the case.

I think maybe I just misread the concept of a chiv/mage lol.

The main purpose of it now is to be able to remove curses, since they changed the casting time to be more....balanced. When you have over 69.9 magery it caps your chiv casting at 2/6. It never made your mage casting 4/6, but people use to use it for the 4/6 closing wounds, as that is as fast as mini heal and as strong as greater heal.

Not sure that helped at all.

I believe Cloak&Dagger is correct.

That being said, you really aren't getting the most out of chiv because your casting is speed is nerfed to 2/6.

However, that being said, I know it has been discussed in the past but with imbuing it ought to be discussed again.

Can anyone confirm whether its based on natural skill or skill period?

If you could lock magery at 69 and use jewelery/talisman/spell books whatever to raise your magery to a more appropriate level without nerfing the chiv that would be interesting.

Hell if that worked, a template with only 69 magery and 75 chiv has a lot of room skill point wise.

General information:

I went ahead and tested it on TC.

It seems EA was thinking ahead, even if you are 68 magery with + skill items it nerfs the 4/6 to 2/6 on chiv casting.

Oh well.

Not very correct.

Lvl 1 magic spell = 0.25 second casting (2/6)

Close wound = 0.5 second casting (4/6)

So they are not the same speed. Close wound can be disrupted with a good timed mage's spells. In mani on the other hand is harder.

Moreover, it doesnt heal as much as greater heal. Greater heal is about 50 damage per. Close wound max is about 36 or so. With Arcane Empowerment spell, close wound is about 51 or so and greater heal can go up to about 70-80 or so.

Chiv mage now are not very useful due to only 2/6 casting. Remove curse takes awhile to cast as well and you probably wouldn't be using so much of this spell in both pvp and pvm perspectives.

Based on your template for both pvp and pvm situation, I would advise changing the following:-

110 Focus (For added mana regen) <-- change this to 100
110 Meditation <-- change this to 100
102.8 Magery <-- change this to 120
100.6 Magic Resist <-- change this to 120
100 Evaluating Intelligence <-- change this to 120
100 Inscription <-- change this to 0
70.5 Chivalry <-- change this to 0

So basically now you got 540 total skill points if you got my advise above.

You have 720 - 540 = 180 skill points left.

2 options:-

1. 100 bushido, 80 ninja (have a ring/bracelet that adds +10 ninja on it).. because 90 ninja llama form failure rate = much lower than 80

Have 100 bushido = having 5% more chance to parry attacks automatically and you get the benefit to confidence on the run. Ninja allows you to mirror images, throw dart/shuriken and llama form out in dismounted situation.

[Of course, it doesnt work well if your connection sucks]

2. 120 wrestle, 60 bushido (so u can confidence on the run)

Hope that helps.

My opinion is based on pure mage template. If you wanted to use a mage for pvm and spawns, of course necro mage type would be a better one.
