Another newbie thief asking questions

Wow, it sure is overwhelming come back in UO after 3 years. I have forgotten the little I have known, excluding the bits that have changed.

Without further ado, a question or two!

- Is it possible to steal from a guildie in Trammel?

- Snooping. Is it possible to somehow do it without opening the paperdoll of your target? It feels so very time consuming to drag&click through all that. Does either UOA,legacy or the new client offer a possibility to craft somekind of a snoop macro that makes me feel less clumsy and slow when doing it?:p

- If an item appears in an inventory I am already snooping, do I see it aswell, or do I have to..er, re-snoop?

- Europeans playing in Siege,
How silent does it get there around GMT when compared to Europa? How is the connection, generally speaking?(I'm from Finland so feedback from a Finn/scandinavian to latter would be valuable)

Yes, you can steal from alliance mates, and guilds you are at war with, in Trammel.

Yes, you can snoop without having the paperdoll open. You can use a "last object" keyboard macro (part of the built-in macro system). Snoop someones pack, then jam your last object key down. Lazy snooping gains. :)

If an item appears in the inventory while you are snooping it, you will see the item. However, there seems to be a bug where when you click the item it wont give a description of what it is. This can be a pain-in-the-ass when you are snooping a power scroll carrier, and someone drops more scrolls on him. You cant tell if its a 105 or a 120! Hah.

Passive stealth detection, are the mechanics for this still in very unfair state?
I am having massive difficulties sneaking around anyone, specially elves.
It does not feel overly alarming with my skills and gear both still being very shaky.
... but please tell me passive detection is not in as grim state as it has been in past?
A person with 100 hiding/120 stealth/good dex does not get passively detected by every single goddamned elf out there, right?

...right?

Ehhhhh...you won't get revealed as much as someone with low hide/stealth, but you will still get revealed more than someone with 100/120 should. Lots of thieves like to use ninjitsu for Shadow Jump. You can teleport right next to someone while stealthing, without revealing. Only problem is that an obvious puff of smoke appears on the screen, blowing your cover if they think they're alone.

A new way to get around passive detect is with the replica shrouds. Get a replica shroud and dye it with the Faded Coal (pretty sure this is the name) Japanese Tok Dye. This will turn the shroud the exact color of a Death Shroud. Wear the shroud when you are trying to stealth up to someone to snoop them. Then, if you happen to reveal, be ready to reply with "OoOo OooOo", then quickly hide again. You'll be surprised how many people will remain standing there and say, "Sorry, can't rez." Or sometimes they'll actually try to rez you, lol. Another good idea for this is to get some Pads of the Cu Sidhe, so you can dye them Faded Coal as well (can only dye arti's and enhanced items with tok dyes). I also dye my Inquis Resolutions with Bleach. I find that platemail gloves work best for the ghost-look. If you don't have inquis, find some Mage Armor platemail gloves (make sure it's mage armor so it won't affect your stealth), and use Bleach on them (it works just as well as Faded Coal for platemail).

So yes, even though passive detect blows, there are ways around it.

Still...I will take passive reveal over going back to the old form of stealth any day.
