Another idea for SP...

awhile back EA asked us if SP would like grandfathered houses here. we said no. but back then the shard was populated. talking to people that come from other shard, they say they need a house and dont wanna drop thier trammie houses.
anyways im wondering if we should maybe try the grandfathered house idea.
for those of u that dunno what this is, people from other shard can place a house on sp but they have to log onto sp once a wk to refresh the house or it will fall.
we got tons of room....

I have to say, I agree with the idea of being proactive.

And nothing feels "trammely" about having to refresh your house weekly like the good old days.

A lot of fresh faces probably shudder at the idea of losing their keep on their old server.

Oh and speaking of the comment about the space...

We would like to place either a castle or a keep but have not been able to find anything. Is there a lot of space for towers and smaller, or are we just not looking hard enough?

I am normally resistant to changes such as these, but this isn't a bad idea since the house HAS to be refreshed. Maybe limit the size too? Max size around the size of a Villa, customizable or otherwise.

If 100 people came over and placed houses. Of those 100, 10 decide to stay. That's 10 more then there is now. They tell their friends, maybe bring 1 or 2 each over, that's potentially another 20..and so on. You have to start somewhere.
I've been playing out of my bank since I came, I play more on Siege then my prod shard, but I cant let go of whats there. Too many years over there. Having a home of my own would definately allow me to enjoy myself more here.
I like the idea of smaller housing if you have a house on another shard. I've always thought that UO needs to make storage limits rather then housing limits. You can have a house on as many shards as you like, but you can only have a total of 2000 items stored/locked down in all of them combined, not to exceed the storage of the house placed on said shard. But I'm sure that would be abused.

u figured me out, i do want more blood, its so boring searching for 4 hrs and only finding 10 blues at most!

if they did place a house here just to take up space they would have to remember to log on once a wk to refresh it, and we have the room, there is house spots all over the shard, 1000 people could place here and we would never notice! a moonglow house just fell recently right by the bank and it was close to 2wks before someone took the spot!! 6 months ago there woulda been a war for the spot...

If your house is not grand fathered, it would not fall. This isn't a change to the housing rules necessarily, but a change to shard rules. It shouldn't affect current players with normal housing.

I can support this.

gets righty some reading glasses. it wont effect u, we saying that if someone from another shard wants to play here, they will be able to place here w/out having to worry bout thier trammy houses. but they would have to refresh it once a wk (so people just dont drop houses all over to take up space).

it may be a good incentive to get people to come try sp out. though it isnt old school uo, we are the closest u get.

Guess it goes to show that you didn't play here before the day of the big housing fall. There were plenty of homes people kept that didn't play the shard on a regular basis...la

and no i wasn't here then, i quit in 2000 for 6 years came back 3 years ago and found the Shard getting TRAMMY every patch.I do love the fact that you can steal from monsters again though.(Gets the thief out of just the spawns and Town)

Not only is this idea ridiculous... anything that jeapardizes my current home is an epic fail.

On top of that... why would anyone come here? This shard is broken and you all do nothing to fix it. Do you think players on prodoshards want to come here and play in crappy GM armor in modern day rules? No. They like using the items that the expansion packs introduced. They're not fans of GM armor tram wars, this won't bring anyone to siege.

Because I play both Atlantic and Siege and know why people don't come here.

Do you really think players want to spend 3 months just training a char to join a trammy-style RP GM armor crap war... LOL? They can do that kinda crap on their own shard. TONS of Trammy guilds do that kind of ****... WAAAY more frequently than we do.

PvM and item loot in general on this shard is broken. Fix that so in-coming players have a more level item playing-field to compete on... and they'll definately be more apt to come over. Until then... enjoy playing your RP GM armor crap war without them.
