Hey,
So, is there any way to control the corpses I animate? It seems like they just do whatever they please. i would like to send them to attack something before it attacks me if possible. Same with familiars...
Thanks

OK, thanks. Haha, well I'm glad I wasn't just doing something really dumb. It wasn't really a problem while I had my young status, but I just lost it today and now everything just jumps on me.

From what I understand, you need to cast another necro spell to have the animates follow you. It doesn't matter what spell, but if you cast one after you summon them they will follow, and fight the close monsters.

Is that how you get them to follow? Interesting.

I didn't think it was a necro spell that got them moving. Usually it seems my skeletal dragons get involved once I start casting anything, even a magery skill.

My technique is often to get my team (2 x Earth Els or EVs and animates) guarding me. I usually invis. Then once they earth els/EVs key in on a monster the animates jump in. So once I have a "meat shield" I start casting... usually with a corpse skin and then flamestrikes using an appropriate slayer spellbook. This technique works well camping spots where you routinely summon a skeletal dragon after killing each creature (i.e. White Wyrms in Ice).
