I read it's been a bit of a problem the past while (I've only been back a couple of weeks). Not too much of an issue for me this time, I was running around Yew and might be beaten to death by a mongbat, but the other half was taking some pretty heavy fire when we lost con.

Not that I'm aware of, it's beautiful here in NZ at the moment. But, from what I hear, there have been issues with Oceania ever since the server got moved Stateside and then back again.

9.6.2012 (1hr) - 1hr- Server dropped. All servers available except Oceania

Ok kids calm down... storm did dammage in US at mythic hq..... Give the repair team time to find all the little strands that got poofed. There might be a bigger main server trouble then they first thought. If it isnt the Saul the Sun tossing flairs at us, its Mother Nature in one of her temper tantrums...... Find one of your old shards you have or fine a back up that fits you and play newbie..... it will make you apreciate what you have on Oc.

Since Kai said the problem isn't the server itself, but a hop somewhere in Sydney, the team will be at the mercy of whoever owns that server.

Lady Storm - aye, it's nice once in a while to play a newbie somewhere else, and it does prove what we have with our own shard... for me in New Zealand, it's a choice between 60-100 ping and 300+. The closest English speaking shard to our own, for me at least, is Origin, where (if I'm lucky) I can sometimes ping 280-290. I think for many this is why it gets frustrating - unless you speak an Asian language fairly fluently, there isn't really a playable alternative to Oceania. Add to that the time differences - I'm GMT +12 - and it's a little prohibitive.

And before anyone flames me, I'm not going on the offensive - merely stating my own, individual options and facts in this particular situation. I know many used to play with such connections - hell, some still do in order to play with the people they want to.

All I'm saying is it seems like Oce's getting the short end of the stick lately from what I've heard and read... bad luck and natural disasters notwithstanding.

Regardless, I hope everyone at UO HQ is in one piece

Yes Samaira I know of the difficulty ... I use to live in NSW. And I use to wander Oceania in my blue robe and bare toes..... when I lived in California....Time differences were the norm. As for ping.. I found that after a few weeks my machine and the routing became easer, cant explain why but seemed that the more I was on the better the movement.. my Son still says its laggy but I move quite well.... We have to understand in this with not knowing the extent of whats dammaged we are nipping at heels that dont have a clue whats up down under. Remember things are different time and such as Samaira pointed out. Just think of the poor bloke who is missing his football game..........

Samaira, if you guys decide to try Origin as one of your "backup" shards, just give a shout out for help. It's a quiet shard, like Oceania, but there really are still people that play there. I think there are also some Australians/New Zealanders playing on Lake Austin.
