I am definitely enjoying my start on Siege! I even got the deluxe tour of a red char's beautifully designed and decorated house this morning. Good times.Update.

This Saturday we will be doing a shard champion crawl where we will be working our way through the various champ locations in the Lost Lands. The event will be mainly in support of Siege newcomers and all shard vets are encouraged to offer scrolls and gold to the NEW members or other bona fide rookies who take part in each hunt.
Start time will be 10am Eastern (7am Pacific, 2pm UK, 3pm CET) and will likely continue for many hours.. Meeting point before and after each spawn will be Skara bank. Please do not start working a spawn before the main party arrives as we do not want the unskilled folk to miss out on the easier first levels. The current progress and location of the event will be updated in this thread, but you can of course just ask in general chat.
Upon completion of each spawn, gold will be pooled and divided among the newcomers. Power scrolls & SoTs will be offered to the newcomers firstly on the basis of who actually can use them. All unclaimed 110/115 scrolls will be saved for NEW. Replicas/rewards will remain the property of whomsoever received them.
Upon completion of the final champion hunt, we hope to finish off with a harrower.
All members of the community are invited to attend, whether to actually kill spawn or just to help heal/equip newcomers. Any new shard member of any level of ability is encouraged to join in, even if you just wish to loot monsters or farm leather. We can provide basic equipment as needed.

Instead of starting up another thread to say this, I thought I'd do a wee bit of thread necromancy.
After about two weeks of playing on Siege on an almost daily basis, I've come to the conclusion that Siege is UO's best-kept secret. I'm hooked and wondering what took me so long to give it a try.
Thank you to all the wonderful Siege veterans for your help and just for being your own independent selves! And a very big thanks to my guildmates for joining in the fun. I think we will have a great time once again sharing a big ole house and getting our characters up and running.

Glad you're having fun Tina. I've tried, often, to tell folk you don't need to be a pvper to enjoy Siege. No one believed me.

Not quite right Mook. One of the reasons for making this thread was to emphasise what the Devs have already done for Siege. Something that made an enormous difference, but no one seemed to have understood or been aware of: the change to RoT.

If I get a chance this weekend I'm going to look into creating a character there.. I've always wanted a classic shard and with this a no go seems like this may be my next best option.
For your entertainment, here's a very brief tale of one of my character's most recent misadventure:Marie Nayted skillfully constructed a magical gate to return to her fishing vessel, hidden in the arms of the cove at Serpent's hold. She stepped through and looked around her in dismay. Not hidden well enough it seemed, the poor vessel was holed and the sails hung in tatters.
Checking the hold she found her most recent catch was missing, the 4 bags she used for sorting before transporting the catch to her shack for safe keeping were empty. The fishmonger's crate was still there, but what else?
Three unexpected objects were in the hold. The first was a book, a ransom note! Her seacharts were held to ransom by 'the drunken pirate'.
The second and third objects were charts - where to take the ransom of course.
With a vow to be sure not to use that hiding place for her ship in future she set off to recover her lost property while rehearsing in her mind the plea she would need to make to Molly Fyde, asking that she use her skill with hammer and needle to repair the stricken vessel.

Very true, Petra. Cleanest, funniest, and most helpful/interesting General Chat I've come across yet. It's full of trade talk; people asking game-related questions and getting helpful responses; folks asking for new players to go to certain places to get help or "stuff" of some sort; people planning impromptu hunts; a bit of role-playing; the occasional thief in a disguise kit masquerading as an innocent Siege newcomer and trying to find out who's where; and a moderate amount of good-natured ribbing. In two weeks, I've only seen one use of cussing/profanity in Siege's General Chat.
And, although I have yet to definitively prove it because I lose connection enough already as it is, there may be something in place that causes you to be disconnected if you type in ALL CAPS or spam in chat. (Could just be Kelmo's doing.)
P.S. No player-caused deaths yet (the monsters have not been so kind though) and, as far as I'm aware, only one theft so far. The thief stole my tailor's backup pair of scissors.
Ewwww, the diabolical fiend! We must bring him to justice! This is the worst crime on Siege since Nightstalker dropped some Essence of Passion into Kelmo's underpants when he was hunting harpies.
