For long I have been exploring Ultima Online... always trying to open new paths to honorable players... and you can find our Guild name on all shards... somehow, the Inn in New Haven got renamed... prolly just a coincidence.


Tonight I would like to invite all players to visit Felluca... with two direct goals and a few indirect ones...

1- experience a simple despise baracoon champ spawn.
2- learn the basics about faction warfare.


Indirect goals... show everyone that Felluca isnt a place to fear... just different rules.


I'll do my best to provide some safety to the experience and several of my online partners have expressed their view and will also do their best to make this a positive experience.


The Champ Hunt and the Faction Tour details will be posted once all variables are weighted...

I don't mind going to felucca. I already spend all my recource gathering time there anyway. If people want to take me with them on a event i won't say no. I just don't think i will be much use in a PvP situtation. I sure will be glad to get some assistance to get my hands on the new goodies from Pub 57!

Uhm, back to Topic. Felucca, yes. Well... my beautiful keep is in Fel and I love this place very much. My expectations regarding suspense-packed PvP can be described in two words: to die. It's not that I'm miffed - I'm simply not good enough. So if you're blessed with the gift of patience I would gladly respond to your kind offer especially challenging some Champ Spawns or the Harrower. Unfortunately, I have to get up early in the morning and I can't play in the (late) evening so please don't rely to heavily on me. But I will join in occasionally whenever I can.

FACTIONS 101-

Imagine you have a character that wishes to do some PVM... on Trammel.
Finding several items like a ornament of the magician, wizard reading glasses or a crystalline ring can take alot of time... but they sure are handy when it comes to SDI and character improvement...
Finding a runebeetle carapace, stormgrips, Crimson Cintures... more time hunting...

Faction items give you this EDGE but the developers removed the time gap... allowing those items to be bought with silver.

1- How do you join factions safely?
Four options... 2 are order, 2 are chaos... purists would say 2 are good, 2 are evil... like everything else in uo, all is perspective.
For now, all it matters is... you can join safely and enjoy this... Faction warfare is OFF on Trammel.
Nothing changes... (except Alliance chat, if you are used to a big Alliance...)

2- How do I gather Silver?
My suggestion, find a secluded spot in Felluca and kill Wisps, ogre lords, Demons or silver serpents (do remember each faction is connected to one of these monsters and you wont get silver from those)...

3- Why do I gather Silver?
Because you can buy the following...

and once you have the Silver BUY all the items you want...
My suggestion... do it when less players are on, buy the items WHILE invisible, because they can be stolen, INSURE them once you buy them.


I bet you noticed the ranks required to use those items...
On Drach you only need 4 kill points to be max rank...
So the next question is simple...

4- How do I get my kill points?
a) kill opposing faction players if you enjoy pvp.
b) use your thief to collect 10 points for each town you corrupt/"purify"
c) use your imagination...

Example on c:
- ask a friend or use a secundary account to create characters on one opposing faction (do remember each account can only be linked to one faction)... then kill your friends characters IN a felluca WAR town... so you get 3x the kill points and Silver... do it three times versus different characters... you will have 9 points... which you will lose 1 every 10 days. since you only need 4... you are set for 50 days, unless you get killed in Felluca. (meanwhile your friend can drop his characters from factions... join another... still opposed to you... and do it again... 18 points... but then you lose points faster...)

Anyhow... you got the silver, you got the kill points... and you can now wear the items... you can even go back to Trammel and play UO like always... but with one major change... you have top gear (in fact, you have modified gear so it is over the top gear).


5- Item Decay.
Yup, the items do lose durability, and unlike regular items, you cant use powder of fortit... you have to use faction powder... still a small price since you can hunt the Silver fast and buy more gear...
(takes about one hour to gather a fair amount...)



Last one...

If the good factions... Com or Tb own the sigils... Trammel towns will be safe.
If the evil factions ... SL or Min own the sigils... the trammel towns will be invaded.

Sigils:
They can be stolen (80 minimum skill required) and moved to he Base...
Defended for 4 hours... and will remain corrupted for 6 hours.

If the Trammel invasion is vanquished... the town goes Neutral... and the sigil loses its alignment.

Invaded towns...

"Publish 56 allows cities in Trammel to be attacked by monster invasions when sigils are captured in Felucca, as the Shadowlords assert their new powers through their alliance with the crimson dragons.
Affected cities include:
* Britain
* Skara Brae
* Magincia
* Minoc
* Moonglow
* Trinsic
* Vesper
* Yew

Beware NPCs in invaded towns! Hatreds will attack, Falsehoods will steal, and Cowardices will... run away.

Please be aware that if you log into a city under invasion, you will be teleported to safety in Jhelom."


Note: generals give INCREDIBLE items... specially mages and healers... and warriors/scouts with crossbows are my personal favorites... (SSI 50 weapons...)

Yes it is possible to enjoy all of the faction advantages while ignoring PVP, Felluca and the outrageous cheating you can find on the battle field, from scripts to speedhacks...

If turning this game sub-system into something someone can use without pvp is an exploit... at least it isnt done in an easy way... nor powered by a different game engine... rules are followed.

Nothing prevents those players from:
- getting killed the instant they join factions.
- getting killed in town by another faction player.
- getting killed while collecting silver.
But I agree, if done right the risk is minimal...

Thank you for the warm welcome... I found Drachs to be a very relaxing shard with a good % of mature players... I am having fun and I hope I can improve the gameplay of some honorable players... at least that is my goal.

As a long time murderer, thief and a member of the most hated guild on the shard, I applaud Pitr in his quests for something different for those who do not normally cruise the corridors of death in Fel. The PvP alliance has voted to not interfere with our friend's activities and will even offer protection and help, should it be requested.

Of course, this offer does not apply to non-Pitr/Tigershark sanctioned events. These cases would result in someone's blood being spilled..gathered..bathed in and then painted across the entire shard. Some would say some of us may drink it as well...

Learning to enjoy all aspects of this game we play is a good way to get your money's worth of entertainment. PvP is just another aspect to be conquered by the inquisitive player. There are many roles in PvP and most everyone finds one to fill, and then the enjoyment comes It just takes practice and understanding.

I did not vote as I have never lived anywhere else but Fel. My first red character was born 09/97.

After discussing this with the veterans this seems to be the wise path...

- use a necro/mage, mage, necro, tamer or archer... weavers are fun too.
- you dont need to join factions to spawn and due to the large number of reds... you can even fight faction players on your blue.

We're discussing if joining one of the allied guilds for the duration of the spawn is wiser... so far it seems to be wiser.

Above all... the timing must be perfect so no one dies... from raids.

We have also reached an agreement on the best way of doing it.

Example:
Spawning with 10 players...
We'll chain despise spawn until we get 10 120s...
Protector collects all scrolls...
Then we'll roll and everyone will get a 120.

Simple enough.

Still working on the details... so we can have a Arcane Circle of level 5...
But above all... planning it so there is no/little threat...

Trust me, having everyone allied is the best route. It prevents little "accidents" where someone thinks their being attacked when it was just a dumb area effect spell.

(Catskills history should have taught us that, if nothing else.)

I'll see about finishing off my necro/mage/weaver to help with the circles. Unless I get a couple of cheap (read: free) power scrolls, it won't be the best template, but it should be serviceable.

It is a lot of fun folks and any template can be played. Some will just be better than others at specific tasks. Here are some basics about template use for spawns. There is much room for variation.

Mages : EVs, Earthquakes, Fields can be your friend. All Slayer spell books should be brought by mages, if possible.

Necro: Wraith form and wither / animate dead. Some spawns will not allow you to leech mana back, you will be advised of those. Lich form with wisp pet/ mana control until the spawn advances and allows mana leech.

Necro/Mage: combine above and have fun. Scrappers spell book is a must for SDI. A good SDI / LRC / LMC / High resists suit is also very nice for the magic casting templates. A sweet trick for mass killing non magical spawn is to teleport right into a screen full and immediately start withering. This process agros all spawn on the screen to you, drawing them into you. Wither it clean

Dexers: Undead, Repond, Reptile, Arachnid, etc weapons. High area of effect damage is a VERY nice plus for the spawn. If you are going to try to smack on the Champ up close and personal, a nice weapon with high Life and Mana leech can sure save your tail and maximize damage via constant specials. Vermin slayer and Undead slayer talismans will be of excellent use at their respective spawns.

Tamers of all kinds: Bring the big guns and pull that trigger!! Mage tamers work well by having your pets guard you and then casting poison fields. The fields agro the spawn on you and when they agro, the pet's introduce them to a fast and hopefully painful death. Archer/Ninja Tamers using high area of affect bows, conflag pots, explode pots..all agro spawn against you for that sweet "all guard me" effect.

It has been suggested to hold the champ spawn crawls (1 of each spawn) over a few days, culminating in a harry spawn for those who participated.

It is my personal thought that only those who participate in the spawn crawls should be allowed into the harry and its resulting scrolls. No free loaders should be allowed and should be summarily "dispatched" (PC speak for murdered, I like this ). This insures that those who do the work, reap the benefits. It is understood that folks may not be able to join in each crawl but I think the Harry folks should have attended at least two of the spawns. Pitr is VERY good about keeping records and will be THE final word on entrance. Since this is his work, we will work with whatever he sets up. Thoughts and discussion is welcome.

The PvP alliance has both day and night crews (Euro time and American time). Good time co-ordination should be worked through Pitr/ Tigershark to help assist in maximum participation by those interested.

All this talk of death has me kinda excited. I am going to go find someone to kill.

The security level of this event is very high... and the timing close to perfect. The goal is to show Felluca with minimal threat... and slowly expose those that wish to learn more about PVP and Factions...

( I have been playing with Midnight bracers, Spellwoven breeches, 12 SDI bracer... for 72% SDI ... and a Repond slayer... learnt that every 10 points of Int = 1 SDI ... learnt that SW can improve your magery based spell damage... lots of learning!)

The remaining of your training can be done in Despise, like planned. So you train and see the PVP around you...

One problem... joining Factions is required... so you can do this slowly... or jump into it.

If you decide to jump... points and silver will be simple things.

I Guess this covers everything.

Well, I'm with Magdalene, I don't " visit " Fel because that's where I live. I have attended and even helped out with events there in the past ( Naked Bar brawl a few years ago ) I have to say though I lead a relatively quiet life there and champ spawns/factions are not really my thing ( although I did used to be interested in the latter from the point of view of using a craftsperson ) It is nice though to see someone trying to get things going in a positive manner

If you do come up with something a little different and its not too late GMT ( Frarc isn't the only person who has to get up for work at sparrowfart, I'm afraid ) then I would be happy to come along and support it

Id love to join and learn to do champs and factions. I met Pitr ingame and has been very helpful i have trained up my necro/mage/sw and although not completely finished i think is ready to start some learning and helping. I am also training up a mage tamer and the greater dragon is bonded and training is going well. I play at odd times but would love to join in with others. Which faction do i need to join, and can i join a guild or is it best not to?

It is a lot of fun folks and any template can be played. Some will just be better than others at specific tasks. Here are some basics about template use for spawns. There is much room for variation.

Mages : EVs, Earthquakes, Fields can be your friend. All Slayer spell books should be brought by mages, if possible.

Necro: Wraith form and wither / animate dead. Some spawns will not allow you to leech mana back, you will be advised of those. Lich form with wisp pet/ mana control until the spawn advances and allows mana leech.

Necro/Mage: combine above and have fun. Scrappers spell book is a must for SDI. A good SDI / LRC / LMC / High resists suit is also very nice for the magic casting templates. A sweet trick for mass killing non magical spawn is to teleport right into a screen full and immediately start withering. This process agros all spawn on the screen to you, drawing them into you. Wither it clean

Dexers: Undead, Repond, Reptile, Arachnid, etc weapons. High area of effect damage is a VERY nice plus for the spawn. If you are going to try to smack on the Champ up close and personal, a nice weapon with high Life and Mana leech can sure save your tail and maximize damage via constant specials. Vermin slayer and Undead slayer talismans will be of excellent use at their respective spawns.

Tamers of all kinds: Bring the big guns and pull that trigger!! Mage tamers work well by having your pets guard you and then casting poison fields. The fields agro the spawn on you and when they agro, the pet's introduce them to a fast and hopefully painful death. Archer/Ninja Tamers using high area of affect bows, conflag pots, explode pots..all agro spawn against you for that sweet "all guard me" effect.

It has been suggested to hold the champ spawn crawls (1 of each spawn) over a few days, culminating in a harry spawn for those who participated.

It is my personal thought that only those who participate in the spawn crawls should be allowed into the harry and its resulting scrolls. No free loaders should be allowed and should be summarily "dispatched" (PC speak for murdered, I like this ). This insures that those who do the work, reap the benefits. It is understood that folks may not be able to join in each crawl but I think the Harry folks should have attended at least two of the spawns. Pitr is VERY good about keeping records and will be THE final word on entrance. Since this is his work, we will work with whatever he sets up. Thoughts and discussion is welcome.

The PvP alliance has both day and night crews (Euro time and American time). Good time co-ordination should be worked through Pitr/ Tigershark to help assist in maximum participation by those interested.

All this talk of death has me kinda excited. I am going to go find someone to kill.
