An idea on how to make being red a bad thing

Why not just make it where a red char cannot transfer skills off the char with a soulstone? This would actually make it where instead of just killing like crazy then soulstoning/deleting and maing a new char to avoid the penalties of being a criminal...Skills could be transferred on but not off while the char is red. just an idea so dont ate on me too bad...btw 2 of my char are perma reds before that is even said.

Bring back skill loss (but make it temporary).

You forgot to add in -- Buying 6 120 scrolls or so and the +25 stat scrolls because Any PvP worth his salt has some 120's and a +25 stat... Felluca is for PvP tram is for everyone else... Reds don't access to all the TRAM only content ... isn't that enough?

Can't say that this is such a good idea.

Especially since most reds are using "disposable" skills that are easy to raise. It is even less of a penalty when you consider that most honest reds rarely change their templates while the "juiced" PvPers are changing their templates hourly.

While I'd like to see a tangible penalty for being red, I'm not sure I can really figure one out. I'd almost say something like stat loss of factions.

Yep... I've got a red or two:thumbsup:

No...the not being able to access all of tram content is not a valid arguement.....I can just make 2 chars identical, keep one red, and one blue and SS the skills back and forth to access the tram content anytime i want to.

Either make it matter to be red or do away with it all together....

If ya'll have these "red" characters then why are you proposing more penalties for them? Just stay in tram if you don't like "red" characters. Geeze.

how do u come up with these ideas out of the blue... reds are fine the way they are, btw no one ever kills like crazy then deletes their characters, most people keep reds forever

Why does it matter?
(disclaimer: I'm a Trammie so it doesn't matter to me)

I think that the question the OP needs to ask is whether Fel still exists as "a self-policing community" (in which case the penalties are really aimed at the player not the character) or whether it is really now "a pvp battleground" (in which case penalties no longer really make sense). Or can it happily continue to be both at the same time? (in which case there isn't a problem to solve)

while i would agree whole-heartedly that in the past, being a thief, or being red had very little consequence, nowadays with the tram/fel split, and the governing rulesets, penalties for merely being red, or thieving, are a bit absurd. on production shards anyways.

Ugh, how far in the past are you talking about? lol

Ever since they dropped the perma-gray for thieves the only consequence is that a thief can never report people for murder.
Ever since they allowed reds to enter guard zones the only consequence is that reds can't leave the fel facet.

So by the past I assume you are also talking about the present time? Because it's been this was since around the time tram was introduced and before that was stat-loss/no guard zone for reds and perma-gray for thieves. Which was a consequence for reds and thieves.

Re: Any idea on how to make being red a bad thing

On production shards, there is NO REAL penalty for being red. Lets look at the current "penalties" for being red:
  1. No Tram... whoopty do. Accounts have 5-7 character slots. I think most can keep one blue char to access Tram content. So how is this a penalty?:coco:
  2. No buying... again, with 5-7 character slots, how is this a penalty? Especially if the account has a Fel based house to swap items around.
  3. Freely attackable... okay... most reds WANT to be attacked... so how is this a penalty?

I also don't agree with the current murder count burn off system. Especially as evidenced by all the "PvPers" that unattend burn at Luna. Yup, ping-ponging counts is alive and well.

To me, the murder system should do what it currently does: identify people who kill blues. It currently partially succeeds. They need to remove the ping-pong count ability after some point. Maybe a new counter of "total kills". Once the total kills count reaches a certain point, you turn perma red... doesn't matter if you never turn red or not.

But there still needs to be a REAL penalty for being red. Maybe not something permanent like the old stat loss or completely barring the player from "normal player" activities like accessing a house or soulstones. Maybe temporary stat loss like factions is one theory.

I mention that I am red because it does bare some on the issue. If a red can look at a system and say "something is wrong", you can be sure there more than likely is something wrong ;)

no that's not the point. the opposite actually and why i deleated my old red char .this is suppose to be an RPG that involves skill and without any penalty there is really nothing to make it any harder most no skill zergs can play a suseful red now.

I'd say bring back bounties ans such.. but that had too many exploits, not to mention the Teen rating this game loused into. There is no good answer, but I like my skill loss idea. :)

As any red in factions will tell you(90% of reds that are active or are real pvpers are in factions) are plagued by being targets for blue tamers and stealth dismounters whose sole purpose is to disrupt the faction system for their faction friends.

A red suffers from being a permanent target, even when he's doing other things.

I like my idea:

If your red you only get 50% of the insurance $ they get now for killing blues, Plus increase the amount if insurance a blue receives for killing a red by 50-100%. reds killing reds no change, red faction members killing rival faction members no change.

lol that isnt a penalty...all you have to do is create an identical char and bounce the skills back and forth...oh wait i guess the few minutes it takes to do that is a penalty....

And the 6 soulstones it takes, or more if you want to use more than one character per day.

I know alot of blues who need to have penalties for being in fel. Just because your on a red dose not mean your a bad player. I kill alot of smart ass crap talking blues. Red of Blue should not matter anymore. Make it no rule set in Fel. anyone can be attacked anywhere. No murder counts. If you want rules....stay in tram ;)

Thats kinda the whole point of my post..why even have the different color players since there isnt much of a penalty either way.

Yeah and you can do this regardless of what penalty you apparently want to tack on to being red.

Not being able to leave fel is good enough. Let this thread end now.

MHM MHM which is why most of my pvpers are now blue.
