An idea for cursed Shame loot

The vast majority of us have gotten that sweet item from Shame that was cursed. And I am confident that many of us have also stowed that item away in our banks because we are too afraid to use it while hunting or pvp'ing.

I suggest that we would be allowed to burn a bless deed we have gotten from the turn in's this past year to remove the curse from the item. This would allow for insuring the item, but not to double bless it by using a second bless deed.

I figure during the revamp some means of removing the negative attributes will come about. My idea is. Each 3rd tier altar summon in each dungeon can drop an item. When you have them all they can be used on an altar somewhere to summon some super duper boss, whom when slayed will drop an item used to remove negative properties on an item.

unless theyve said anything different recently, back when shame revamp hit, I believe it was Pheonix who said in a post that they didnt have any plan at the time to allow us to remove cursed.
As much as Id love some of my shame stuff to become uncursed I think its for the best, at least right now, to keep cursed stuff cursed. The cursed stuff keeps us hunting for that rare lil piece of perfection

One bless deed, a thousand bless deeds, if you have as many spring cleanup points as me it doesn't make a difference.

Thanks to the good book

Yepp. When the "spoiler" pointed out they had found remove item curse this was posted:

The "Item Curse Removal" thing is not part of Publish 73. If it does end up on the slate for a future publish, it's likely to end up looking a lot different than what the text strings in here imply.

in this thread: http://vboards.stratics.com/uhall/253995-%2Aspoiler%2A-client-7-0-19-a.html

Then he seemed to clarify it a bit in another thread:

http://vboards.stratics.com/uhall/254013-clean-up-points-remove-curses.html

The system was prototyped, and then just held back from publish. The strings were mistakenly not removed from the client patch.

Basically, we decided that the addition of the ability to remove the negatives from the new items would be too much and too soon. An item with 800 points of weighted item property intensity is one thing if it's cursed and unrepairable. It's another thing entirely if you can fortify it up and insure it.

Now, the way we prototyped it was to have the costs scale up geometrically with the item property intensity. For a seriously good item, the costs were multiple millions of Clean Up Britannia points, to completely clean the negatives off an item. Also, it would only work with items generated by the new Shame loot generator.

The way I would like to change it would be to disallow the removal of Brittle and instead have it allow the use of Clean Up Britannia points to repair its max durability. Essentially, to allow the extended use of these items, but at a relatively high recurring cost.

I'm all about the tradeoffs. Those are interesting.

I vote leave Cursed. To allow a bless in any manner would be counter productive to what Devs developed. Someone complained items were lasting too long. This was the answer, and now, the way of the future.

I also see no need for a gold sink as some mention, it's simply a reflection of UO's longevity, as a mob generated the loot in the first place, and someone had to kill it to put it in circulation. Some people solo, some pvp, some craft, some collect Gold - that's their game, why penalize them for becoming a part of this long history? I say increase check denomination size to accommodate the higher priced items and reduce total in-game items at the same time.

I'm happy that others feel as I do ; cursed is an important part to the continued population and activity in our dungeons.

Don't remove it , ever!

At least playing SP that is one tag (cursed) that can be ignored. Since things are soooo ez to get in shame, why be afraid to lose anything especially on a prodo shard?
