Am I the only one who caught a "rare" fish with just GM fishing?

I caught a "fire fish" in shame this morning, and I haven't even seen a fishing scroll, let alone used one, and trained it up.

Must be a bug?

Also, I've been getting bait as rewards for fishing quests - doesn't this allow me to catch rare fish? Guess we'll find out slowly.

I hope they don't exist. Its silly to have twenty whole points just to get those rare fish. Cause basically 100.1-119.9 mean nothing better than 100.

And legendary fishermen was announced at the Town Hall...

So, unless they lied to us, the powerscrolls should be in there somewhere...

I believe that the statement at the Town Hall was that certain Fish Contracts (the equivalent of BODs) would require over GM to be eligible for - not that the fish themselves would require over GM skill.

yes.. I am wondering what the damn mystery is on Fishing Power scrolls.. why the secrecy? Either they are part of the fel champ spawn drops or the are acquired via other means. People have been asking this question for some time now with no response from the developers.

90% of the time on test I only played with GM fishing as I figured it would be necessary to be at that skill level if obtaining the PS was a part of a quest and I was able to fish up rare fish. And I fished up one yesterday in deep water.

Maybe the fishing is like mining or crafter enhancing. Can do it at GM but higher is better. Don't have to wear the mining gloves but with val smelting fails every little helps. And if the Marlins are like the gypsy drop I'll take that 120 PS if it lowers the casted fishing pole tries by 5000-10000.

I caught a rare yellow tail barracuda with 100 fishing.

It came up with my fisherman's name and fish weight.

Rare fishes are the equivalent of the old mountable "big fish", you can get them with less than GM.

I too wish there were no PS for fishing. The PS system doesn't stand anymore. When it was released, you could do everything at GM, but you could sacrify in one skill to be more efficient with another. Now they are a requirement. You use to be able to play with 7 skills, now you have to choose only 6. PS have been missused. :/

You only need 120 to catch "legendary" fish not rare fish the legendaries are the ones that only drop in certain places

Not true either. I am catching the locational fish at GM. Got a reaper fish from doom and a holey mackerel this morning.

It would be nice to have an explanation on fish. Uoguide.com/fish says you need to be legendary to fish up the rares. I caught a kingfish on opening day of the booster and obviously others have caught rares as well. Of course I was only 100 fishing skill at that time. In fact I'm still GM fishing, as I have yet to catch the elusive power scroll from a fishing quest.

I got a few of the rare fishes, Marlin, Unicornfish, Summerfish, great barracuda and yellowtail barracuda.

But - i also got a +5 fishing powerscroll....ate it to start raising the skill.....

I've caught yellowtail barracuda, great barracuda, reaper fish, fire fish and holy mackeral. I was thinking that the mountable fish are the truly rare ones that require 120 fishing? Of course that's just a guess, as it seems nobody has any reliable information. I'm still at 100 fishing; 100+ fishing quests and still no fishing PS for me. I will saw that since the change a couple days ago, I have not received any quests for dungeon fish, so I guess that's what they meant when they said 106 for dungeon. Soon hopefully, I like fishing in dungeons.
