Am I going mad?

Yesterday a friend gave me 48 ecru citrines on my mage char, so I go to my house and drop them in a chest for my crafter to pick up later. Come today, I have searched EVERY CHEST IN MY HOUSE but I still can't find those freakin' ecrus anywhere! Does this happen to other people or am I just losing it :/
