Alphabetical Order for Crafters

Not sure if this has been brought up before but I wish all the crafting menus were in alphabetical order. When I am trying to see if I need a recipe (that I may find for sale on a vendor) I have to search and usually miss it and have to search again. Would just be nice to have things listed that way for easy lookup.

I'd settle for a 3-column Crafting gump, instead of the current 2-column one.

First column would be similar to the current setup (using smith for an example, would have metal armor, helmets, shields, bladed, etc.)

Second column would be an intermediary step
Examples:
If "Metal Armor" selected "Ringmail", "Chainmail" and "Platemail" options appear
If "Bladed" selected, categories for "Swords", "Fencing", "Tokuno Swords", "Tokuno Fencing", "Elven Swords", "Elven Fencing", "Gargoyle Swords" & "Gargoyle Fencing" would appear ("Mondain's Legacy" instead of "Elven" would be better, but there are space considerations, unless you allow word wrap)

The last column would have the actual weapons listed (so if you chose "Elven Swords", only the ML weapons that use Swordmanship would appear). For the ML weapons, the base weapon type would be listed, followed by the normal recipe weapons based on it, then lastly any artifact-level craftable based on it.

This would mean that choosing Elven Swords in column two would display in column 3...

Radiant Scimitar
Darkglow Scimitar
Icy Scimitar
True Radiant Scimitar
Twinkling Scimitar
Overseer Sundered Blade

Etc.

The base types would be alphabetized in the process, and the minor types underneath it in the process.

We ought to try writing up some of this stuff, and if I can get some way to print (my $70 toner cart is out right now), have me pass it off to the devs at Fairfax.

I agree with that as well. Anything would be better than what we have now which is a jumble of I don't know what lol It makes it so hard to get where you are going with the current setup of the crafting gumps.

Agree whole heatedly with both of you the system as it is now is kinda a mess and needs some reorganization.

No! Hehe. I am always lost for many months after the crafting gumps change!

But in seriousness the above suggestions could work. But if you ask 10 different people to organize something the way they think makes sense, you will most likely get 10 different results. Now if you could drag something out of a crafting gump, like dragging a spell or skill out in the classic client or like throwing something on a hotbar in the enhanced client, everyone could create their own style of organization and design. Just a thought.

I like this idea. You could macro making potion kegs for example. This is available with UO:Assist, which is legal, so it should be possible and permissible in EC.

Otherwise, perhaps allow us to customise the tabs ourselves or something.
