The Township Boat Race Challenge was created during the All Shards Tavern Night which currently rotates between Chesapeake and Baja. We sometimes use this event to "Test run" events we would like to implement in our player run towns, shard or game wide.
For example the "War Story Night" sparked the idea for the Mesanna as a Teenager story contest. So back in June we ran this boat race event and challenge the townships on Chesapeake, Baja and Catskills. (we only invited a few since it was our first run and had no idea if it would work) Townships from each shard came to Chesapeake to see who had the best boat skills. It is a friendly competition between townships on different shards.
You sign your township up on the Baja shard forum link in the above post. They will have a ship key for you and survival pack when you get there. Additional instructions may be given. Be sure to look at the race map posted on the Baja shard forum. (So you know where you are going) Overall we hope you make new friends and contacts on multiple shards. Its just a relaxing time unless you are a very serious boat racer *Smiles*. Really just try to cut off the boat next to you and win hehe. I think the funnest part is meeting a ton of different people, you normally would have never met.
The second running is being hosted on Baja this Tuesday. Invites were sent out to townships on Chesapeake, Catskills, Baja, Siege Perilous and Pacific shards. There is no real prize and its not EM sponsored although the hosting shard can ask their EM to help if they want and if the EM has the time to.
EM Dudley was kind enough to help us with starting the race on Chesapeake. Thats why you see those colorful exploding boxes in the picture.

Original Chesapeake Posting In June
The "All Shards Tavern Night" that currently rotates between the Chesapeake and Baja shard came up with an event for multiple shards to attend. The event is a Township Boat Race Challenge with towns from Baja, Catskills and Chesapeake. I am posting here to see which townships on Chesapeake would be interested in entering the race.
The race will be held on Tuesday, June 01, 2010 at 10:20pm ET. This is our first attempt at trying such a event so we will be holding it on our shard. If things work out we hope to do similar events in the future. If a township is not interested we understand and will not hold it against you. For the towns that do wish to register simply send me a PM or post below here.
