AI + goo or AI + FWW for area of effect damage?

After building a couple of single target pets I am thinking of doing champ runs with my tamer whenever I am getting tired of playing my sampire. That is, I am not thinking in terms of efficiency (can't really beat a sampire I guess) but more in terms of fun and diversity.

I am a spellweaver tamer, using magery only for passive spells. I am not multiclienting for one reason or another so this will be a stand-alone template with one 5 slot pet.

I am thinking of building five identical AoE 100% elemental damage pets based on platinum drakes (physical, fire, cold, poison, energy) and use them like I use my 100% elemental damage weapons on my sampire. Unfortunately, these drakes are a bit short on training points while the fire breathe special is not only useless but also counts towards the 3 magic ability/specials cap. Which leaves me with AI + goo or AI + frenzied whirlwind as the only viable options (meaning I can't put AI + FWW + goo on the drakes even if I had the training points).

FWW does both multiple and single target damage as far as I understand, which will help during both the waves and the boss fight. Due to its limited range, FWW will also be useful if I take the pet to other places with annoying minor sidespawn but without aggroing too many new mobs (please correct me if I am wrong).

Goo on the other hand might only help in the first waves. Because of its large range, it will aggro and bring lots of mobs to the pet as far as I understood. I am planning to nuke these (surviving) aggroed mobs with my spellweaving spells. In the boss fight, goo doesn't do any damage on a single target (as far as I understood) and even if, it evidently becomes huge mana waste (at least compared to FWW).

So my question is: Should I choose AI + goo or AI + FWW on the platinum drakes? Is there anything I have overlooked or should also factor-in in my decision? Are there better combinations than AI + goo or FWW for champ runs that I have not considered?

I know that there might be better AoE pets than the platinum drakes, but I just want some AoE pets with 100% elemental damage I can take to champs now and later (when they might add new champs). I might add more specialized AoE pets for specific champs some time in the future, so this is just to get a basic "set" of 100% elemental damage pets (well, weapons actually) that do AoE damage and are synergetic to spellweaving on my template.

Thanks for reading this, any comments appreciated!

It will depend on what your overall plan/strategy is. Personally, I use the pet as a way to gather up mobs in order to aoe them down with my tamer. You can do this with Wither, Thunder Storm, Essence of Wind, etc. Because the pet's purpose is to gather mobs up, I typically will use a pet with a combination of Goo, Poison Breath, and FWW (so either FWW/Goo, FWW/PB, sometimes just Chiv/FWW, etc.). If you use this method, you will need a plan for the boss though -- whether that is nuking them down as a necromage (sounds like you don't have Eval though), swapping your pet out, or wanting the same pet for the whole spawn.

If you want the same pet for the whole spawn, I would probably recommend AI+Goo, and using your spellweaving to do most of the wave clearing. FWW/Goo will have a better clear-rate for the pet, but a slower boss kill time, so it depends how likely you are to get raided.

You can still paperdoll aggro as a tamer as well, you just have to be more cautious with it (also depends on what the wave is). AI/FWW can be a good combo if you paperdoll aggo, and can invis the aggro off yourself and onto your pet.

instead of using a cold crimson or platinum drake I would recommend getting a frost drake usually can find them in new magincia stalls or since Krampus is active now u can try taming 1 there. They have the 100% cold damage like the crimson/platinum but don't come with dragon breath tacked on.

For 100% elemental damage, fire beetles and frost mites are great choices. Tons of training points and you can get AOE on both (goo for the fire beetle and poison breath for the frost mite).
