we have snow here.

Mauna Kea & Kilauea are the "tallest volcanoes" in the world and yes, they get snow and ice...

Observatories atop Mauna Kea (which means literally "white mountain")



Altho... that is on the big Island of Hawaii...

Where I live... it looks like this right now (and where I will be on Monday if not raining):

well the news is saying...that 49 of the 50 states have had some type of snow fall so far this year...come on hawaii..lets prove al gorey wrong..lets get that snow falling :D and save the polar bears :D

btw great pics... I mean for the largest volcanco...stupid question here..but would it not burn off and snow/rain before it hit with the massive heat the lave produces?

No such thing as a stupid questions.


Hawaiian volcanoes do not explode off the top like most you see in news and movies. Many of the vents are actually on the slopes toward the ocean on the south-southeast side of the island. Also, Kilauea has been erupting since 1983......


I read somewhere that you would have to stack Mt. Everest TWICE to even reach the snow line of Mauna Kea! (stacking from the sea floor actually)



You just gotta come over here in late December, early January to see the snow here. It doesn't last long... a day or two at the most.
