After months of it, I am finally going to ask...

What does one have to do about there lag to pretty much all EA servers?? I play the 3 following servers or have chars on them. These tracerts were done at 7:30pm CST on 05 February 2010 (TODAY).

What does one have to do to get this fixed?? I know it is not my internet. I can actually get on the player run server I play and not lagg a bit. In fact I run incredible on it. Unfortunately I enjoy playing EA as well as alot of good friends play it and refuse to play on the free server with me. Along with doing this..I do not lagg doing anything on the internet for the most part other than playing UO.

hate to break it to you but it looks like your internet..
the 3rd hop is too high..
the first hop is your router, the 2nd is your modem. the 3rd is your isp. that 3rd hop should be 10 to 15 ms

The first hop is my modem and the second is my ISP. I do not use a router. I am by no means an expert, but something aint right...

but for the rest, it's pretty complex, and I kinda have a tendancy to waste time to explain stuff to people for them to forget about it and treat me as a babbling loonie.

So I suggest you take it on from there and find the truth for yourself, I'll talk more if you fetch a piece of the puzzle out and bring it to the light.

Your problem occurs far before you even get close to the EA servers.....

Other than that, have you tracert other shards?

Maybe yoru just not hitting the right shard?

Your player run shard is possibly closer to you, and with less players/items/npc's the load times are quicker

All speculation here but just a thought that might help to put you on the right path.

i think that ip is his ip.. he is reading the trace wrong..

the second hop is wan/lan router, 192.168.1.1
the 3rd hop is the modem/isp 12.117.219.209

the lag is coming from a bad wire, or bad modem.

invest in a cat6 cable if your using cat5, then check the modem or the wires going to the connection on the pole outside.

Changing from Cat5 to 6 will do nothing. If the cable is bad, yes it will help that but other than long runs with 1000bt cat6 wont change anything. Bad cable , maybe. Cat6 will improve? No way.

Most of the times that I have similar problems, it's them darn pesky squirrels!!! Again!!! They chew on the cable line between my house and the pole to get the cable-coating to use as nesting material - and then the first rain lets water into the cable and things go downhill fast from there...

When I purchased my house, I had the cable company come in and bury my lines to keep the rodents from chewing my wires.

The only problems I get now is when there is a loose connection at the pole. It lets things through but at a greatly reduced rate. Have you had your dsl/cable provider check their equipment at the pole/hub? Corrosion is a terrible problem with connections in some areas. And with all this crazy weather we've has in the U.S. lately...

Yeah mine gets like that often, due to water/ice buildup in the box outside and due to stinking squirrels chewing up the lines.

Whenever my ping starts looking like that I'm on the phone to my ISP and chewing them out making them come and "fix" it..... which usually means them coming and clearing out the box drying off my lines and repairing all the chew marks.

After they do that I'm back to high speed. I think they hate me.... but hell I pay for HIGH SPEED internet and I expect it to be high speed.

Thanks for the replys...It was working find up until around 30 mins ago...went to crap. Back to the unplayable lag. I had about 2-3 hours of pretty much lagg free game play. Ill give the company a call monday. Make sure I got tracerts to show them the horribleness of my situation...maybe they can do something about it....
