Acquiring In-Game Books

I'm trying to constuct a library in my home of in-game books. I'm a GM Scribe and I attempted to copy a few books from the bookshelves of the Britainnian Royal Library (since you can't take them from the shelves there) but whenever I target one of the library's books I get the message: "can't copy a blank book."

Is this supposed to happen or am I doing something wrong? If you cannot copy books from places like this then what are some suggestions for locations to go book hunting?

So far I've discovered that the tall candle spawn on Covetous Lvl. 3 occassionally spawns books that I can take on the bookshelves there but its extremely sporadic and slow.

Any suggestions?

A lot of the older books can be stolen from bookshelves in NPC buildings... there are a lot of them around Moonglow if I remember right.

Tazar is correct as usual lol, any of the books that spawn in libraries in the bookcases can be stolen. There are alot of books out there, I have been trying to collect them all for a couple of years now and then they added a bunch of new ones to obtain in Ter Mur through quests.

In Game Books - majority of book titles - There are a few of the "older" books that no longer spawn and have to be gotten by finding someone that has them and buying.

Silent Rose Library books - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia - more books including player written ones that are considered collectible by some

Axem the Curator - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia One of the Ter Mur quest givers for books

Percolem the Hunter - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia Another quest qiver in Ter Mur

So far there are normal versions (various colors), Limited Edition (orange hue), Collector's Editions (white), First Edition (black) of Ter Mur Books.

You know us pixel addicts *twitches* ... Gotta stick together, unless of course two addicts want the same pixels and there are only a few of them in game, then all bets are off

If you don't mind dealing with the occasional evil mage, the North Eastern most building within the Hedge Maze in Felucca has bookshelves where you can simply drag the books out.

Aside from that, you can also buy some books from provisioners.

Doing the Ter Mur quests will net another large stash of in game books, and you can also find some bits and pieces, like the Order of the Dragonfish books that are obtained through fishing quests, "A Welcome" by Lord Blackthorn that drops off Betrayers in Blackthorn's Castle, the Valentines day books that are sold at the Britain Conservatory of Music, and the Khaldun Journals that are found in the dungeon Khaldun.
