Does anyone know if it is legal to buy an account or trade one for free?

Im looking for 1 - 2 accounts with characters on siege and europa.

preferably with crafters on Siege.

Illegal per the new Terms of Service that EA put into place when they converted to the "Master Account" system.

However - for a relatively cheap price, you can start a new account and get 2 Mythic Character Tokens starting your crafters at 90 skill. With Siege ROT - you'll be GM very quickly and with minimal resources used.

The new accounts system, with accounts linked to your email address which has become your EA account name, trading accounts has become exceedingly difficult, if not impossible. The EA account transfer option has also been discontinued.
However Mesanna has mentioned recently the possibility of the +5 skill points per year being abandoned, giving all accounts 720 skill points from outset. We await further news on that possible development.

also if you do buy one even if you change passwords the original owner can get the account back by contacting origin so i would advise you not to purchase one

Yes, it is still possible to get an account for FREE and have UO/EA unLink the account and relink to your master account. It is a pain in the a** to do it but still possible. You have to email them and they will ask for all the information about the account. Here is what it looks like;

You can get a free account from a friend you trust... Less you unlink it like Mith posted about. Be forewarned, the unlinking takes sometimes weeks to do. Trust me.

I was able to work around it and resolve it with some missing info.

So says you. I previously owned my accounts and could sell them freely.

For me to release my Guadian KX account it was a simple task of calling EA, talking to someone who had an India eccent, give them my email and the email I wanted it switched to. He was polite and had it done in a matter of minutes. Afterwards I'm very sure it was a matter of moments before the monitoring computer noted both the speed of the call and the satisfaction in my voice and then 2 large burly security officers showed up at his kiosk, told him he was fired and ushered him off the premises.

People lose access to email accounts for many reasons and make new ones. Switching them should be easy... and luckily for me it was.
