About Pathos
Yesterday, I Yahaxithonix decided to follow up on the rumored report of a fellow inflicting death upon the Orcs at the fort to the East of Luna.
Finding no one there, I explored the Eastern Crystal Fens and I found a house owned by a player named Pathos. It was in a state of decay! Curiosity made me peer into the windows to see a treasure trove contained there.
I pondered upon the struggle of Greed upon my soul. It was a remote site. Few buildings about and fewer people in traffic; should I keep the secret to myself? It was then I was shocked at the loss standing before me. I heard this name: Pathos. Surely others know of Pathos. Shamed was I in my coveting his things. Pathos was a person, not a collection of objects.
What a name he had. Pathos means the feelings about one’s own struggles over sufferings. What did he suffer? How did he struggle? What brought his house to this end?
I decided to share the IDOC with others. I told Sara Dale and she posted the IDOC on the forum.
The house of Pathos fell at 9:03 AM CST on July 2, 2010. There were several members of GIL present. We indulged like children do at the Christmas holidays.

Afterward, I pause to reflex about Pathos. From what we found in his house I am sure he played well, and did all he could on his part to be part of the game. Can we all say the same?
If WHY we play is important to us, the the HOW is just the means to the ends of play. We each need to find better reasons to the WHY we are part of the game. That is our struggle! Lest we try to play better in this game we will suffer the same pathos.
