A tale of two houses...what happened?

I'll try to make this short and sweet. All on Legends, all in Trammel.

House #1. A keep, NNE of the vesper/yew/brit crossroads, near the water. Account had been inactive, and the other day when I went in it, it said "This house is condemned" or whatever that message is. Checked the sign, was only slightly, so I figured oh well, I got a few days. Cleaned a bit of stuff out of it with friended chars, found an account without a house to transfer it to.
Because we all know, when an account reaches that 90 mark, houses don't refresh after they go into decay mode, right? Or so I've been told for years.
No rush, I let it go a couple of days or so, and then re-activated the account.
House at this point was greatly. Went to bed, gonna xfer them the next morning...but when I got online, the Keep had refreshed itself?!?!?!
Was this an odd happening? or has the gameplan changed and I just missed it?

House #2.
A 17x17 custom designed and nicelly built by DevilsOwn. Totally separate account from house #1. This was the only house I had that had an oven in it, so I had been running in and out of it all week last week, cooking charcoal to make powder. Never saw any message at all about condemned. Up the steps, open the door, go in, open the door, come out. The places you usually get that message. Come home from work, log in, the cook graps boards, and we run two screens to get there to make charcoal. The house is gone! Evidently fell during the morning time, only trace of it was a water trough still sitting where the 3rd floor shoulda been. LOL I was so shocked I could only stand there stunned...And it was a full house too ;)

Now, I'm not griping about getting anything back, just curious, anyone else lost a house without any condemned message lately?

Example 1 is what I've seen happen with houses for a little while, if the account is reactivated then - assuming the house doesn't fall in the meantime - it will refresh the next time the daily 'account status' check happens on from the housing server, so that's not too surprising.

Example 2 though is very worrying. If the account that owns it is still paid for, I've never heard of that happening. My first thought was did anyone else have access to that account who might have emptied the place and demolished it?

Maybe only the 1 account with the keep is paid and on the other you did not get the decay message?

at the time neither of them were paid :p
getting the message at the keep was expected, more or less. The surprise there was that it refreshed.

The second house, there never was a message...that was my problem :p And no, I wasn't checking the house sign, relying on the condemned message as I used it, which I never got.

Like I said, not cryin over spilled milk, just wondering if anyone else had an oddity like this lately

Condemned is the wrong message, that's normally what you get when you place a second house on the same account. (condemned cannot be re-claimed by the same account, you have to transfer it). The 90 day idoc (which seems randomly under 90 days now, thank god) is different, those can be refreshed down to the day it's going to collapse, the only time they can't be refreshed is if they go "owned by OSI" if they go past IDOC but can't fall due to other player's vendors.

Personally I think it should be two weeks, MAX, that a house stay's up if it's unpaid. That's plenty of time to hit the next paycheck and pay it up if you forgot about it, anything more than that and you end up with what we had for a long time...people with 12 castles who only pay up their accounts every 3 months and are rarely ever actually in game. Would be nice if the dev's let us know if the rules changed though :)

Oh I kinda agree about the payment of accounts. I have paid my 8 faithfully every month for years... burns me that others pay 4x a year and get to keep tons of houses and castles that way... especially if they aren't even playing. To me if you aren't going to even play you should pack up and sell out close the account. But hey that's just me.

As for the loss of the 17x17 got me baffled. I've never lost a home to non-payment so I really wouldn't know too much. Save that our guild keep went IDOC at LEAST 2 times because the prior owner wasn't paying...

Weird that you didn't get any message.

Sorry you lost your home.

I believe that you get the message if you own or are co-owned to the home.

If you are just friended you don't see the message. Likely house #2 you were only friended to that house.

Wrong! I've been in decaying public houses that I am not even granted access to, and get the condemned message.

If a house is decaying, you should get the condemned message whenever you enter the house.

What I think happened in this situation is that the owner, or perhaps, someone who hacked into the account, unlocked/removed all contents of the house and then dropped it. However since we haven't heard anything from the owner yet, we don't know what the story is here.

They could even have placed a new house in a different location, accidentally placed a house on a different shard and forgotten the house existed, or any one of several situations, all of which are hypothetical until the house owner comes forward and tells their story.

I have never had a house fall under suspicious circumstances, but then again I don't try to cheat the system by trying to beat the clock. Pay for your accounts and you won't have any issues.

The only time I see the condemned message is when I am the owner, co-owner. I've never seen it with my friend-ed characters. This was with my old house when it was condemned about 3 months ago.

This morning I went inside a IDOC house and got no condemned message. I had to check the sign to see the decay state.
