A Move to Bring Back Players

With the impending release of Stygian Abyss, I'd love to see Electronic Arts allow all closed accounts in good standing to play for free for 14 or 30 days once UO: SA has been released-- 30 if possible since there is a LOT to learn for people who left years ago.

Has this been discussed in any way? I believe I remember this happening in the past since it is one reason I decided to return to Ultima Online after quitting myself.

Lord of the Rings Online has done this repeatedly and from what I've seen it's brought back a lot of my friends who played in Beta back in the day.

They seem to do this ever 2 years or so (give or take?) and I think they are at about the 2 year mark...actually I think it will be two years in October....So good chance of it happening I guess.

It's been called "The Return to Britannia" program in the past. I do hope they do one. I've seen LOTS of returning veterans lately and it would be good to have more!

i did read while i was away form game that the return program will run as you said in october

hopefully more heritage tokens as i lost all my good stuff when i "quit" last year

Agreed, banned accounts should never receive any kind of "return to Brittania" benefits

Agreed. Fully believe in the Return to Britannia for those who quit but never for those who were banned for the obvious reasons that they cheated or duped or did something worthy of getting banned. Besides, plenty of banned players make new accounts and come back all the time using new emails, new names and new cards.

Prolly would be wise to do it after the Gem shards are given... so they dont go to an erratic player... just my two cents.

If they do such thing, it's my opinion, that the RTB accounts should also get access to the latest expansion for that time frame.
Otherwise they cannot experience much new ...

Wasn't it 14 days 2 years ago? I could be wrong, but I thought that was how long it was, but then my memory is a bit fuzzy as it only affect my second account that I left open after wards (for my wife)

From running a Google search it looks like the promotion was from November 7 to November 14 of 2006. So, apparently the last Return to Britannia was 7 days long? This was right around the time I came back.

I've had several PMs and ICQs from players who are returning from Pre-AOS days, and I think it'd be great to have more come back. Granted, much as changed and they may not like it once they know it, but it's worth a chance!
