Dramora rubbed her eyes and stretched. It was very late at night, and she wanted nothing more than to be at home in her bed.
She’d been hours sitting at her desk pouring over the many reports that had arrived over the past several days. Each report had said exactly what she had expected, there was nothing at all to report.
No one had been more surprised than Dramora when the Governor of Trinsic had accused her of causing the waters of Trinsic to be overrun with sea serpents and trash. Spending as much time in her office as she had since she had taken over as Governor, it was unclear to her when exactly she’d had the time for “wild parties” as accused. In fact, at the one party she’d had, the Governor’s Inaugural Celebration, the Trinsic Governor was the only one that got drunk and vomited on the floor and the shoes of Stevie.
She had given a small donation to the tavern owners as an apology for the mess caused by the Trinsic Governor and “John”, who had attacked one of the revelers.
However, doing her due diligence, she had sent several people, at different times of the day and night to the waters off Trinsic to see the trouble the Governor was talking about. Each and every report had come back negative. According to her reports, all was quiet. She wondered about the sanity of the new Governor of Trinsic, and hoped that the job of Governor was not going to be too difficult for him to handle.
With a small sigh, she picked up her quill and rifled in the drawer for some parchment. Penning a note to the Governor of Trinsic, and a copy as well to King Blackthorn…
Governor Dance,
I hope this message finds you well.
I have taken the opportunity to send several of my most trusted guards to the Trinsic waters at different times during the past week to see about the trouble you mentioned during the Governor’s meeting.
Each report has said the same thing; that the waters off Trinsic are “sea serpent” free, no matter what time of the day the guard was sent.
Since you yourself was the only one drunk at the one party I have held, the Governor’s Inaugural Celebration, and you seemed distraught (if not drunk) at the Governor’s meeting last week, I must ask about the possibility that whatever “trash” or “serpents” you saw was planted there to cause a rift between Britain and Trinsic.
I am more than willing to help you investigate whatever you believe you saw, however, I’ve done about all I can do at this point.
I have sent a copy of this message to the King, and I will certainly make my reports available to the King if he wishes to see them.
Very Truly Yours,
Dramora, Governor of Britain
Calling to the messenger waiting outside, she handed the boy several coins and instructed him to give the message to Governor Dance himself, and to make sure the message for the King gets to the King’s most trusted advisor.
