On behalf of the Town Council, the Citizens, and myself, the Mayor, i bid you welcome to the Jewel of Tokuna, the City of Zento

As some of you may remember my platform during the city election, i ran on a platform of addressing quality of life issues that have been affecting the citizens.

The first such quality of life program will be held this week. This will be the registration of all exotic and aggressive pets. Your pet will be weighed, examined and innoculated to ensure it is not a carrier of any disease such as
speckled fever, premature balding, foot rot, or syphyllis.

Per Zento Ordinance # 35, an aggressive pet is classified as:

A Hiyru (both greater and lessers)
Mares (Including all breeds of nightmares, and unicorns)
All manner of Wryms (not to be confused with the WyRm that inhabits homare)
Opinionated Female Guildmates
And Beetles

If you are an owner of such a beast, please bring them to the Zento Rec Center on thursday 10 pm by the eastern star for your FREE registration (although donations to feed the Zento homeless will be accepted)

As Secretary to the Mayor of Zento, and City Dog Catcher, I will be assisting in providing pet examinations, and can also coax sulky non-faction monochrome pets back into their normal healthy color. I will also continue my efforts to round up nuisance strays such as the dozens of cats and dogs which roam the streets of Zento causing potentially dangerous allergy flare ups in citizens doing their banking.

Also, citizens, please be advised that the content of Zento Ordinance #35 has not been finalized. In particular, I will be reviewing with the Mayor the designation of Opinionated Female Guildmates as aggressive animals...after I sharpen my claws

Being Castor's brother no doubt calls into question my validity of carrying out my mayoral duties to the citizenry. However, i assure you that i was elected to this 10yr term as mayor by proper electoral procedure and a fair and balanced vote was held.

Myself, Anselle Grey, and Bo Wakayama ran for mayor of the city.

I proven myself to the fine citizens of the town over my worthy opponents by offering a REAL difference and a REAL change for the people

All Anselle offerred was some trinkets to kill some beetles.
And Bo Wakayamas "stab you in the eye" platform did not go over well with the farmers (however Wulf of C|C was noted to have voted 6 times for bo in the election, and he even lives in TRINSIC!!!)

So although some say i am the Best of the Worst, i am willing to give it my all for my people.

Sir August, Please update the city scrolls to reflect the change in duties and if you would like a more active roll in the administration, please see my secretary, the Lady Skylark.

As for the Lady Ibichi, judging the accerlerated rate of male pattern baldness some of your guildmates have shown, i feel that one of your pets is indeed infected and should be weighed and innoculated against further disease.

Actually the ISLAND is Makoto-Jima, the town is Zento. And as the official Secretary to the Mayor, I have given up trying to get him to spell it correctly. Fortunately that isn't required for him to run it well.

As for the rest, we can't be responsible if citizens do not check their mail for sample ballots, and miss important general elections. And, as the Supervisor of Elections does in fact reside in Florida, I have taken your request for a recount seriously. After sweeping away all the dangling chads, and such, the winner of the election, by a landslide, remains Pollux. I think you will find that the new, improved ballot system was designed so everyone could understand it.

@ Nurse Maude: there are a number of crazies that roam the streets of Zento, wearing the badge of SICK most notably. I think your diagnostic services may in fact be needed for these poor souls.

A citizen has brought a serious concern to my attention. He wondered if the new mayor has any plans to increase security around the busy Zento public moongate as well as monitor useage of the public ankh shrine to determine if impact fees are needed to offset excessive use by certain segments of the population.

Due to the chaos and lack of organization we found when our administration moved in, the Mayor has not yet fully defined all of the important public programs which will be implemented. You can be sure however, that I will bring these very valid concerns, and any others that are expressed to his attention for review and consideration. It may be that additional civic minded individuals will be joining our staff soon, and allow us to expand the list of available services and programs, but at this point it is too early to say for certain.

I am really hoping to be able to open the Zento Community Center in time for the complimentary pet examinations and registration the Mayor has announced for Thursday night, but it all depends on labor &amp; material resources. I don't want the current construction crew to feel overworked and go on strike or worse - organize into a union. *shivers*

P.S. - as a rather lengthy OOC comment, I have been enjoying the shot in the arm RP has received on Siege the last few weeks, mostly inspired by the WAKA Yamamoto story line. For anyone that may be confused, of course the titles Castor and I have adopted are purely arbitrary, and have nothing to do with game mechanics. We currently own 2 homes in Zento now, and miss a lot of the RP interaction we used to have when we first came to Siege. Castor has always spent his time patrolling and defending "good" people and attempting to extract justice from "bad" people on his KSS character, and in farming, crafting, and helping folks with pets &amp; supplies on his alt Pollux. I have always liked having social interaction, and providing support in whatever way I can to people I encounter in game, whether in the form of healing/res for them or their pets or crafting something. Because I am not into general PvP and I am an indifferent monster basher, I tend to spend a lot of my time just wandering around talking to people, looking at stuff, gathering resources, and making things. I figure the situation is ideally suited for us role playing civil servants for the Zento area. It is meant to be fun for us and the people we interact with. I am having a great time preparing the Zento Community Center, and a few of the WAKA folks I have bumped into, have tried to jump into the spirit of the RP. I am a UO deco novice, and I have been swiping ideas from others, and modifying them to suit myself or conditions on Siege. The quest for pillows has been amusing (and I thank all that have helped me obtain what I need), but the deco quest continues! Last night I risked life and limb running all over the lands of Felucca looking for "light" cabbages to use in the construction of an arbor, because they position in a slightly different way when dropped on a floor tile than the "dark" cabbages which are picked in most of the fields or are bought from NPCs. To my knowledge there is only one field on Siege where they spawn, and I know the secret now!

When you consider we have Klingons, general psychopaths, Wakayama Empire Citizens, knights, Shire folk, Iantown villagers, Exiled vampires, Treacherous Treasure seekers, and every other type of player you can think of, there is a huge potential for a lot of silly, strange, and fun encounters. I hope the momentum keeps going - anyone who was hanging out at fight night Sunday in the Shire knows how much excitement was in the air just anticipating a fun fight with an RP theme. With the White Council as a long established alliance in place, and now MYTH forming a new patchwork alliance based on the common goal of opposing the "tyranny" of the Waka empire and their representation of Lord British's corrupt regime it looks like a number of people are also enjoying the role playing aspect, and want to have it in the game - both natural/spontaneous situations, and organized scenarios, and not just on the boards. I hope more people jump into the spirit of things.

Well yes there will be a shock treatment room. That fits under the more severe treatment cases. Actually upon inspection of space at the institute there will be 4 not 3 as I previously responded in another thread, for severe patients. Whether you can watch or not will be left to the discretion of the patient and or the party committing the patient. There will be many forms in triplicate to fill out.
Assembling all the required pieces of equipment for my 'vision' are going to be quite interesting. Just as Skylark is encountering with her project.
A brochure (screenshots) of the facility should be coming in a day or two.

I took a few runs thru Luna this evening, for the most part everyone seems rational. I did not see The Prophet, perhaps when I check back later in the evening he will be about. I traveled to Zento this evening after leaving Luna. I had the pleasure of meeting Nuriko of Myth at the gate and spoke with her for a few minutes. I didn't want to detain her, because of all this warring business. Was worried someone might jump from the shadows while we were distracted talking. There was a problem I noticed, several "people" ran by us all in what appeared to be wolf form. This may need to be investigated further with reguards to, if they are able to catch illnesses from pets. I hope they look into this at the Pet Clinic Thursday.

The Prophet was in Luna when I met up with him. I gated him to Story night in Wispwood Shire but he didn't stay long. He then went to Brit for a while. (Wyrm from VMP gave him a horse there and then said he had failed or something like that. Wasn't real clear on that whole interaction. Sounds like there might have been some role play involved. I thought it was cool that he actually helped out a noob.) I gated him back to Luna when I left him between 9-9:30.

I am glad that the town resurrection ankh is located directly between the Mayor's Mansion and the Community Center. I don't think we have enough money in the emergency fund if I have to buy reagents as often as I predict the mayor will require a res.

Please be assured citizens, that neither blaze clad knight nor diplomacy challenged elected official will be further involved in the installation and testing of the pet weighing facilities. I will be undertaking that task, to ensure the highest level of safety for you and your pets when the free examination date is rescheduled.

So when will the Community Center open to the public? After all, the citizens of Zento are paying taxes to support the mayor's lifestyle. By the look of it, the workers outside his mansion are waiting to get their food stamps.

Perhaps, instead of vaccinating pets first ... the mayor should take care of his employees. They look sad, and need jobs.

Too bad the taxmen are on hiatus, or I'd would request an audit of Pollux.

I assure you there has been no misappropriation of public funds! In fact, to date, the mayor has financed 100% of not only his campaign, but also the new public wellness projects he is launching, and the construction of the Community Center, from his personal fortune, which was acquired through much industrious sewing, and the surprising money making opportunities to be found in large-game hunting, in his rare spare time.

One can't accurately judge the average income of the residents of Zento by the gray robe clad beggars that regularly cluster in front of the Community Center, as many of these are immigrants, and visitors who have fallen on hard times. However, these are just the sort of unfortunates whose welfare the mayor will have to look into. Government studies take time, though. Please be patient.
