[Throwing] A little help

Sorry but i've tryed to make a search to find some posts for a template but nothing.
I have a char that i use only for gardening.
I'd like to change his race and make it a warrior with throwing ( i like to prove various templates, not only tamers )
I've read that it's better have also a skill like swords.
Someone can help me for a template in pvm?

Obiouvsly i have to create a full fghter with obiouvsly throwing. I have some skill into soulstones then i'd like to kbnow what to do. What type of warrior is better? What skills with throwing? Sorry but i did'n't found no posts about a template

I'd like to make another char, gargolye, like this but:
Can i drop sword for throwing?
Parrying is good with throwing or it is useless?
I've heard that it's better have a melee weapon like sword with throwing.
Is it true?
Can i drop parrying for sword?
And... it's a good idea making a gargoyle char? is it strong like a human one?
I play solo and i make only pvm.
All suggestions are wellcome

Yes.

Parrying is good with throwing or it is useless?

Bushido + Parry + Throwing + no shield is good.
Bushido + Throwing + shield or no shield (makes no diff) is ok.
Parry + Throwing + shield is useless.

Throwing has penalties for being too close or too far, 120 Swords removes 50% of the penalty for being too close, the other 50% is removed by having 140 Dex (used to be 150 Dex but this was changed). So, yes it does do something, but it isn't necessary.

Yes.

And... it's a good idea making a gargoyle char? is it strong like a human one?

There are good and bad things with it but it is getting better.

Gargoyles racially get 5 hci and a 50 hci cap.

Range is affected by Str, you need 140 or more for max range (used to be 150 but this was changed).

They get high base resist armor and armor caps.

You don't really need 100 Chivalry. (I usually go with 65-70)

you will want 120 swords and throwing. the throwing and swords work together. swords lets you fight close combat without a penalty.

if you go 120 bush, you get specials, crits, parrying ability with your weapon, and a lesser hiryu.

the rest is kind of up to your play style. i'd love to pair throwing with myst but then that leaves barely anything for tactics, chiv, anat, and the healing skill

You can still own and control pets you just can't mount them.

I think that it's ok.

120 Throwing, 120 Swords, 120 Bushido, 110 Tactics, 100 Anatomy & 100 Healing would leave only 50 points for Chivalry, you could drop Tactics to 90 to make Chiv 70, otherwise you would need it on jewelry.

Last problem: stats.
Better dex or strong at 140 and more?

Throwing is one handed so you can use Greater Strength & Greater Dexterity potions (with 0 Enhance Potions they will do +20 each). Though you will also need stat increase items on your armor and jewelry. You should look at the gargoyle artifacts before you start this, as it can be hard to maximize everything. You need high Stamina and SSI for Throwing (its about the same as Archery only you can't have 40 SSI on the weapon).

However if you can't max everything, I would keep in mind that you are Healing with Bandages, and for that 140 Dex gives the fastest speed.

you can't mount it but if you tank, it can do damage to help! or sick on enemy in pvp!

if you can afford it, buy a stat scroll. the +5, +10, +15 can all be had fairly cheap. if you have a lot of money buy a +20 or +25.

dex is most important for swing speed.
str is next important for damage and hit points
int is last for mana pool.

im not familiar with gargoyle items so not sure what to recommend, but if this was a human i'd recommend 125 dex, 100 str, rest in int. then mace and shield or spirit of totem for the head, for more str+dex. check and see what is available to gargoyles...

140 dex gives 4s bandage. 120, 150, 180 sta your swing speed is lowered by .25 for each 30 pts of sta. so +sta on armor is important also.

mana pool should be enough to do a few weapon specials - you can always add hit mana leech to your weapon too.

you only need 65-75 chiv, and can get by with 90 healing. no less than 90 healing though.

Swords is the only melee weapon skill that works with Throwing.
Fencing and Mace Fighting do not benefit Throwing in any way.

Pretty sure the 120 swords isn't required anymore. If you have 40 or 45 HCI... I don't remember, it will get rid of the penalty all together as well.

I'm saying I think you don't need swords at all. You just need 45 HCI.
