I was sitting here going through some armor and perusing the imbuing menus when it occurred to me I was using a word I never heard of before UO, and it may not even be a word, but I guarantee every vet here has used it.

medable or nonmedable

Can you think of any others? I'm sure there's lots of slangy ones, but how about ones that really sound like something, like medable.

First non-existent word that comes to mind that I've been using with this expansion is imbueable. :)

As in, "Are arcane gloves imbueable and will they lose the properties if I recharge them?"

As an aside, they are imbueable, but I haven't tested the second part out.

Yesteday while I was making weapons it occured to me that agapite, verite, and valorite aren't really minerals or rocks in real life, or at least not that I know of.

Oh, and I've always found the concept of "banksitting" amusing. Kind of like babysitting, but better pay...

I was explaining the game to a co-worker the other day and realized that he had no idea what I was talking about when I said "I play on the Pacific shard"

That reminds me of when I was trying to tell my friend about my sampire-ninja, I think I lost him at the mention of elf.

parapunch?

I think were getting off topic... OP was asking about words that are common in uo and not common in real life.

Reagents?

Regs for reagents. Reagents themselves, technically, are UO specific.

'aids for bandaids

"Recalling" as in "I'm recalling to get some 'aids"

"Gating" as in "I'm gating to destard"

EOO (sometimes EEO) -- not the captain, but enemy of one

EV -- energy vortex

summons -- most any summoned creature, but usually elementals or daemons

reflect -- used to refer to magic reflect the spell, not used as much these days "lol newb, I took your reflect down"

a heal (or hael) - any method for healing "NEED A HEAL A HEAL A HAEL"

newbie -- anyone who hasn't been around very long and needs mentoring

newb -- someone who may or may not have been around, but doesn't know something obvious

red -- anyone marked as a murderer, for whatever reason, refers to their default highlight color.

pots -- referring to potions

Heh, they're actually made-up based on the UO Virtue Principles: Love, Truth and Courage.

("shadow" isn't real metal either)

IRL a reagent is a purified chemical used in a laboratory.

So far I think imbuable, idocing, banksitting, and parapunch (never heard that one) all fall in the same category.

Aids, pots, regs, arties fall under the slang category.

Bods is an acronym for bulk order deeds. Other acronyms include SOT, TOT, SOP.

Marties is a hybrid slang acronym, Minor artie, minor artifact.

Recalling, gating, summons, reflect, ethereal, mount, interior decorator, shard etc. are actual words given new meaning in UO.

As for the ores those are given to us by the game unlike these words we make up ourselves.

Did a little searching for imbuable and found several other RPGs use the same term.

Thanks for playing along. We don't get many threads here without arguing.
