I'm looking for a copy of a Kingdom Reborn patch log file from anyone who either a.) downloaded the few patches before the one that wiped out KR or b.) was one of the original closed beta/focus group participants.


Specifically, I'm looking for the size, in bytes, of several client patches; data which is housed snugly within the patch log file. The ones that I'm missing are:

• Any that may be between 2.59.0.2 and 2.60.0.0 that I don't know about.
• 2.59.0.2
• 2.59.0.1
• 2.58.0.7
• 2.45.0.6
• 2.45.0.3
• 2.44.0.25
• 2.44.0.15
• 1.0.0.16
• 1.0.0.14
• Whatever number the very first patch from the very first closed beta/focus group was. I have patch notes for this, and Jeremy was supposed to get me a patch number, but she was laid off before that ever happened.

ooooh.........I'll have to poke around and see if I still have that installed on any of our laptops.

Edited to add: Hmmm. Was that actually a different program or would the patch log file be in the same folder? I used that client from the time I began playing until it was no longer supported. If you have a file name to check, I'll look and see what I have.

I am actually surprised that I got a response to my request! My thanks to Tina Small and Fogsbane so far for answering the call.

As some of you may know, I'm one of the admins over at UOGuide. I do most of my work in templates, site design, and archival of old UO info. I made a reusable template for client patch pages and decided to include a field for the size of a patch in bytes, since I had patchlog files that listed it. So your information contributions are going toward fleshing out this section: http://www.uoguide.com/Client_Patches. Thanks to the contibutors in this thread so far, I have complete size data for all of the KR patches except for one.

I don't really recall. Sadly, I wiped out 3D on my computer long before I realized that I had a use for the data. I vaguely remember the client exe's being in the same main folder (uo.exe, client.exe, uotd.exe, etc.) so there could be two patchlog files, just named slightly differently. I guess the real question here is whether the 2D and 3D clients even had different patchlog files. Hmm.

?You may be able to just load up a T2A disk and patch and get the data you want (for 2D)?

I'm pretty sure that this is impossible. EA has several times "locked out" patching to clients before a certain version so that they don't have to support 12+ years of every client patch ever.

Today I installed an original release disc (I think it's the charter edition version) and it would not patch.
I then installed and tried a T2A (The Second Age) disc, and it did patch.
The T2A disc I tried, and was successful patching to current, is labeled with an identifier number ISBN 0-7845-1564-6

After letting T2A patch up all the way to current (i was pleasantly surprised that it "only" took about 90 minutes), I did spot this difference (there may be more differences) in the patchlog data

for 'gold' (T2A) vs 'se' (9th anniversary install in my case)

And to Fogsbane: Argh! I guess I'll probably default to either a.) the "gold" versions, as they stem from an older source hierarchy or b.) the larger of the two, sort of as a "worst case scenario."

I'll have to try to do an install and patch forward from my T2A disk and see if things line up. I'm also curious to see a "gold" patch up from 4.0.11d to present to see if it's different than mine, which I believe may be a "uose" patch up.
