A bug with gold when begging?

A friend of mine was begging today and was getting big piles of gold that just says gold coin and weighs one stone.. when you drag the pile though it comes up as 65k in gold. Is this a new glitch or has it been around for awhile?

It's old, like oh 5 years old or so. You will also get single coins that won't stack. They spend just like regualr gold. It's been brought up before. They make for nice decoration. i use to give them away to people.
