42 hours before you can recieve a new house?

Could someone tell me when this rule was introduced? I traded off my house today to a friend to take on a larger house and when the trade for the new house was offered I was not allowed to accept the house due to just trading the house I previously owned. I have to wait 42 hours before I can take the new house?

I don't remember seeing this announced anywhere could someone tell me how long this has been in place?

My previous house was placed almost 2 years ago, I don't remember the exact date.

I think your character may have to be so many days old before they can be given a house...

Did you try one of your other characters on the account?

this character actually placed the previous house almost 2 years ago. I wish I could try another character but she is the only character on this account.

The new housing rules are so hard to understand. I know if you place you can not place or take another house for 7 days. but Seems to me if you give your house away you should be able to take another since you didn't place.

UO web site states:
"If a player places a house, has a house traded to him, or sets a house to Primary, a one-week timer begins. During that time, he may not place another house, have another house traded to him, or set another house as Primary. However, that player can still give away any number of houses on any number of shards without restriction.

Note: You can find out whether your timer is still active by double-clicking a house placement tool. If you still have a timer, it will say, "You must wait __ hours to place a house." Otherwise, you'll just get the house menu, which you can then cancel."


I see no reason why you should not be able to take a new house. But then again any more if we are trading house we open and account to hold the house in case of stuff just like this.

You could try asking the GM but I'm sure you will only get told to send in a bug report or go and read a web page somewhere.
If you are in danger of losing you stuff I suggest you open a new or closed account to hold your stuff un till the game will let you take new house.

You could also if you have space make temporary new char's to hold your stuff, or ask a very very trusted friend to help you store your stuff

I spoke to a gm and according to them I have placed or accepted a house in the past 7 days, but that is not the case, I owned the previous house for almost 2 years. For some reason the server is reading my account house ownership information wrong.

I wait the 42 hours and then I can accept the new house until then it decays slowly.

Did It stop you from trading or just say you cant?

Did you physically go through the step and it stopped you?

Every time I place a house and tear it down and replace the house it gives me the message I have to wait.....

But I never have had to wait ever in that instance.

As long as you own no other house....the message that says you cant has never stopped me from placing a home..

Do you have the account billed monthly automatically? or even better have you had any recent lapse in payment? Was your payment due 30 hours ago?

If you recently reactivated the account the account re-attaches to the house as if you just placed a house.

If you just reactivated the account adn the house was possiably in decay when reactivated, it acts as if it is a freshly placed home, and gives you a 7 day timer, a FYI.

That is my guess on what happened

Have you tried using a housing tool to see if it gives you a placement message, or maybe gives your account a jolt so it can now accept a house? (maybe that last bit is reaching, but you never know).
