24h hour ban for URL in character name

Two days ago I was suspended for 24 hours just because I had a character called "visit XebozZ.com".

I have to admit, that I made a mistake, because I just read the ToS (Terms of Service) and when I couldn't find anything there about naming my character I assumed it was ok. Well, I found out that it wasn't and after doing some research I came to this site: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1760

So it was not ok, but still I think a 24 hour ban is quite harsh. When I logged back in, my characters name was changed to "sergio"...

Anyways the morale of that story is, if you think of creating a character and youre not sure if the name is ok, its probably not. And if you want to be really sure check out EA's character naming policy

The GM was nice enough to change my name to something else so now my character is called "Jetiro". So, when you see Jetiro standing on Europa westbank just imagine that I'm called "visit xebozz.com" and keep coming to my website

80% of the time when players publicize websites in game its directing players to some virus website. Thus EA is very harsh against it. I don't think they take the time to check the site, they just assume your up to no good.

Its also illigal to advertize a website/link in books being left around. A guild on my shard got in trouble with this. They would organize regular player run auctions. They would have huge amounts of stuff to auction and would have a book like this:

So-and-so guild is inviting you to our auction on "date"

On a postive note, they could have named you *Fabio* or *Richard*. (No offense to any ***** out there!) Sergio is at least a name which will put a smile on ur face and not just the face of others!

I have my guild's url in my house name, it's the same one they have registered on the guild page. Should I remove it from my house sign? I use it to mark runes also (the site explains our event/s).

How did you get the dot in there? I try to name someone ".... Jr." and it basically says the dot is invalid. KR or something?

24 hours might be too harsh, but if it's a sign that they are gonna start cracking down on virus propagation (anyone remember the dude spamming at the banks for links to Stygian Abyss videos?), then it's kind of cool.

Someone else said something about them "not bothering" to check out the site that's being advertised?

Why the Hell would they? That's a major time investment. I'd rather have them tracking scripters and exploiters.

Your safe to do what you want, till somone pages on you. Having runes/books/house names etc will be fine till some tweed comes along and decides to page a gm.

Also cant have URL's in your char profile scroll either.
