I love reading UO stories because this game just has so much potential for epic and funny things to happen. UO is still in my top 10 all time favorite games, even if I don't play it as much as I used to. But please, share some stories and experiences from the last 15 years that can help cheer us all up about UO!
I remember going to Hyloth with my first guild. No one had a rune on them so we set sail using our cloth maps that came with the game. Along the way we ran into a group of pirates out at sea. They started yelling a bunch of nonsensical gibberish at us and shot some arrows but eventually gave up pursuing us after awhile. Once we arrived at shore (after about a half hour of getting lost) one of my guildmates remembered they had had a rune all along. No matter though, we had reached our destination. We had very high hopes of skill gains and grand loot going in. I think between 10 of us we only managed to stay alive for all of 5 minutes. Some people were a little upset about the whole thing but I think overall we all felt it was an adventure worth taking, even if the only lesson was not to go back there for a long time.
15 years is a long time for an MMORPG. I'm glad the game is still around and that anyone new still has so much to experience and explore. Even if my own sense of adventure has diminished I would recommend the game to anyone who likes RPGs and has never tried it.
Does anyone else have some fun stories to share? I know I'd enjoy reading them.
