****Warning Long post****
Soon as the sun rises, I'll be hanging a flag outside.
My daughter, USA Navy etc. should be arriving on a jet plane,
about 3 pm today to visit us for awhile.
Back in 1992, I had double empty nest syndrome,
as both my Twins, male and female entered the United States Navy.
Our son became a nuclear phy. Submariner,
and our daughter on Naval Aircraft as personnel mover.
He did his 6 yrs. and retired.
She is going [for 20 yrs.] in the USN
and plans to retire next summer.
Our youngest girl, opted to try going into the Army in 95,
just like her grandpa my dad, had done.
But she couldn't shoot her m16 straight for nothing.
She survived all the other basic training though,
the Army let her go *honorably* after basic training.
She DID try, though !
She became a coronary nurse instead, saving lives.
Today is Veterans Day !
Last year when twin *baby girl 1* came to visit,
I gave her something, that belonged to my father.
The USA flag given to us [me and my mom],
when he passed away,
some several yrs. back, as a Veteran of WW 2.
I wish I could show
ya the funeral picture, some yrs. ago,
of 2 USN's in uniform,
and one lil Army trainee,
as they each, draped the USA flag
respectfully, over their own
Grandpa's coffin.
It is a very beautiful photo,
everyone who was there,
seeing not 1 but all 3, of the only grandkids he had,
opt to show up at their grandfather's funeral, in their military dress uniforms,
even surprising me, their momma, that they opted
to come to my dad's funeral
all decked out, in their military dress uniforms.
My dad's tattered falling apart 1940s Army journal,
amphibian dev. pacific front WW2,
remains with me alone, still to this day yet.
But one day, I will take it and copy it x3 for my kids.
11/11/11
when an armistice was signed some yrs. ago,
permitting my own European grandpas,
to finally become *civilians* again,
after WW1 & then to become legalised
Citizens of The United States of America !
Wars may never end, till then end of mankind,
but we should always thank and respect those
whom felt called, whom have served, or even tried to serve.
11/11/11 Veterans Day
Thank you all,
for all you have done
or tried to do
thru all our global times of wars and peace.
