Just wondering why vendors cant price items over 100 mil on them. I checked the UO knowledge page but didnt see anything.

Well, the highest effective price would be 125,000,000 anyway, so you're really only down 25,000,000 from max price anyway.

Why's 125 mil the highest effective price?

Yes, you guessed it... you can only hold 125 1 mil checks in your bank.

Not sure why they chose 100,000,000 as the top price for the vendors, but, really... you need more than that for an item?

But a vendor can hold 100s of mils, and you can withdraw in small amounts. I was just curious, seems that most EM event items and old rares are over 100 mil now. Be nice for rares festivals, I would get to see alot more unique items :).

I guess because when they designed vendors they probably didn't expect some items to be fetching more than 100 million. Plus all the other constraints that have been mentioned.

However, I would like to see a newer trade system with more options.

Sure, the vendor can hold 100s of millions... but the point is, a person can only spend 125mil max at any given time, presuming that their bank is filled with 125 1mil checks. If you were able to price an item at say 300mil, no one could buy it because there's no way for them to store that kind of money in their bank.

Strangely, I hadn't been aware my bank storage had been upgraded too. hehe See what happens when you buy something for one purpose only? :)

Okay, so 150mil... I dunno why 100mil then. I could see them doing at least max bank storage as the upper limit.

Personally I think that they should remove gold limits from peoples banks. Each character should have a gold amount linked to them; perhaps all your characters on one shard. Then allow for cheques for any amount to be made.

I think they need to divide the value of all checks and piles of gold by 1000 to bring these prices more into a reasonable range on shards where this is a problem.

Even division by 10 is significant enough

- Divide every gold amount in the entire game by 10
- consider keeping vendor prices as they are
- consider keeping vendor fees as they are

Isn't that what the real world banking system did with such aplomb? ;)

Actually, they allowed checks to be written on lines of credit which were then defaulted on.

That level of stupidity has yet to reach the Britannian banking system.

There is something to be said for only being allowed to spend what you *actually* have... :gee:

I thought this was possible too. I have the storage upgrade but I don't have 150 million in cheques. Does anyone want to give me the money to verify this upper limit? It's for science.

They should just make each item so it can be sold only once on a vendor. This will prevent people from buying out everything available of an item from vendors and then selling it for a 'realistic & reasonable' far higher price on their own vendors.

The UO economy needs to be fixed, not broken further. If larger payments became possible it would just get prices jacked up faster, and the mega-millionares would be whining for 100 trillion max prices in a couple of years.

How about a major alchemy disaster event where all gold converts to iron, followed by an economic crash? The highest price on a vendor becomes 1000 gp and monsters no longer carry more than 1 gp per 100 hp it has. We all wind up with our characters, their skills, items, and only dust bunnies in our money stashes.
