I'm just curious.. Always kind of wondered if I was alone. Although the last time I really recall the game being sold at retail was during the Samurai Empire and the freebie soulstones? I believe it was soulstones, I remember the clerk at game stop handing me a stack of the promotional tickets, because they had so many, and no one pre-ordered or bought the game. I believe there was also a gold version, and 9th anni since the SE expansion, but no game stores really carried them. So does anyone in KCMO or near the area play UO? If you do, give me a holler, would love to actually meet someone who plays this game.

Though I have since moved to the south, I was born and lived in Independence for 32 years. 3 things since I've moved 3 years ago:

1. I'm glad I'm a Panthers fan now and not a Chiefs fan =P
2. I'd give my right arm and left leg for Arthur Bryant's BBQ out here!
3. I MISS quiktrips!!!!

ok another thing:
4. I miss watching Country Club Plaza light ceremony Thanksgiving night.

Ah.. Well I grew up here, moved to CA in 97 for school, stayed for 6+ years, started playing UO out there, which is the main reason I play Napa. Then for some odd reason, be it family or friends, I decided to move back here to KC. Have yet to meet anyone that plays this game though.

On a side note, QuikTrip now has Hotdogs, Nachos, Healthy ColdCut sandwichs, Wraps, and Fruitbowls. Quiktrip does Rock. Probably the cleanest, and most professionally run chain of convient/gas stations ever. And gas is only $1.39... :]

The Chiefs are in bad times, but they will be good in years to come, half the team is rookies, and the new owner needs to fire the GM. But the stadiums are being made over, and the Royals are also getting better. Now if we could get an NBA team to fill the Empty but brand new Sprint Center, the sports scene around here would be much improved. especially with MU & KU football rocking the way it has the past couple of years.

I'll always remember it as the Royal's stadium instead of Kauffman stadium. And why oh why did you all not let that rolling roof pass for Arrowhead.. you gave up hosting the 2015 superbowl! I also never knew of anyone around the area that played UO as well, but then again, I never asked I guess.

The rednecks around here aren't very bright. There were several proposals, and plans. The one I went for was to not pass either, so that one of the other much talked about plans could be implemented. Such plan was to build a new Royals Stadium in downtown KC, near the river front as part of the renewal of Downtown. And then remodel arrowhead where it was, put a dome, roof, whatever.

But the fear machine of losing either or both teams to another city, scared the faithful into voting to pour more money into the old stadiums in a move to keep the teams. Although I personally believe they wouldn't have moved. So they voted yes to spend tax payers dollars on the stadiums, and voted no to spend tourists money on the rolling roof. Because the rolling roof was a second measure that would have used a hotel tax to pay for the roof. I don't get it. If your gonna pass to update the stadiums, then you should pass the second measure to build the roof.

Also passed a plan for light rail, that has been put to vote again, because the proposal wasn't practical or something, so we passed light rail, then voted it down the second time. The second time, NKC passed it. Who knows all the counties, and then the stateline and Kansas side, so hard to get anything done right in this city.

I don't live within KC anymore but I am still pretty close.
I've got a place out in the country about 50 miles east of the stadium complex.
I've played UO for abit more then 8 yrs and have pretty much always played LS shard.
I agree to a point that Arrowhead should have the rolling roof, but I believe football and the fans should be played exposed to the weather.
The roof would of been great to bring in other venues to take advantage of the stadium but roll it open for gameday.

Im bout a half hour south of KC..... Been playin since umm '97. There used to be quite a few from the area that played.

As far as the rolling roof over Arrowhead.... That was shot down because it was a pink elephant for the tax payers. If memory servers me correctly, they figured on roughly 150 mill for it on top of the 450 mill that Jackson county was already gona cough up for both The K and Arrowhead. The Chiefs and the Royals were going to put in around 75 million.

IMO They should have blown up The K and moved it down town... and built a dome for the chiefs.... If they really wanted to spark something good downtown! Yes the Sprint Cntr is nice and all but more could have been done to revitalize downtown!

Anyways... Its nice to see ppl that still play this dinosaur of a game in the area!

Lived in KC area all my life until moving to Texas in 2000. I know of two former UO players still living in KC area, but that is all. I agree with 2, 3, and 4 (KC BBQ, whether Arthur Bryant, Gates, or one of the many others is the best). Still a die-hard Chiefs fan. Always will be. The thing I miss the most is Ghengis Khan, the Mongolian BBQ place near KU Med. Try it, if you haven't already.

I'm pretty sure it was a hotel/taxi cab/tourist type of tax deal that was gonna pay for that rolling roof, which is why it made very little sense for it not to pass, because the locals really wouldn't have been flipping the bill for it. But thats old news, atleast we should still be getting an All Star game here in the next couple of years.

How far south are you staying? Belton? Raymore? Harrisonville?

They're still doing a TON of stuff downtown. You have the Midland Theater which is doing weekly shows of all types (Journey, ZZ Top, Rev Theory, OAR, Manheim Steamroller just to name a few). The Power and Light District has been open for over a year and is doing very well. There's a good number of restaurants and bars all with different food and vibes. They're about to open a grocery store, fitness center and a ton of other things, my personal favorite being what should be the best movie theater in the world. Everything is going to be HD, digital, prototype technology that AMC will use for executives to see movies the way they should be seen. And yes, it is open to everyone.

Anywho back on topic, I live in KC :scholar:

Ghengis Khan! Just ate there today! When my co-workers and I go out to eat, it's always elther Ghengis or Oklahoma Joe's (that BBQ place in a gas station). I have always lived near KC (about an hour away). I moved to KCMO about 10 years ago and KCK about 5 years after that.

I assumed I was one of the only UO players living in Kansas. I live about half an hour to 45 minutes away from KC.

Contrary to popular belief.... There are only two places for for great bbq...... KC and South Carolina! Its two different styles and some ppl favor Carolina bbq over KC bbq(I find Carolina bbq to vinegary sp).. but bottom line KC bbq is hands down the best in the world!

How many areas have the American Royal? The best of the best world wide are invited here for a few days of the year to prove who has game!

Anyway, Im on the KS side in Olathe

Well, all I can say is that this oughta be moved to an Off Topic forum. No need to insult the rednecks thank you. Trust me we feel the same about people from CA.

I live 75 miles north east of KC. This redneck travels to Liberty and St. Lukes on Barry Road at least six times a month. Traveling to the KC metro and St Joe is nothing for me. We do most of our grocery shopping, dining out, and doctoring out of town.
Every morning I step outside and pick up my KC Star and make our plans for each trip.

I don't live in KC but I do live close (Wichita) i guess. There was a few stores here in ICT that sold UO. I remember buy two 9th Anni boxes from the place next to Best Buy (EB games? can't remember). I haven't seen any since then tho.
