About Imbuing: Unravel to 50 skill.

Can they let us Unravel items to gain up to 50 skill points instead of just 25? It just seems better to let us unravel to 50 instead of 25.

The information pertaining to being able to unravel to gain up to 25 imbuing is in the stickied thread "Imbuing Clarification".

The first post in the thread has that information. Beta for SA has not started yet.

I don't see a problem with letting people unravel to 50 because you can start a char with 50 imbuing and soulstone imbuing over from that char to a char you want to have imbuing on. I plan to start imbuing at 50 and use soulstones to move it around, so such a change wouldn't impact me personally.

Do you know for sure that we will be able to start characters at 50? or will it be like spellweaving where you have to complete a quest to gain the skill?

I may have missed something, but I have not seen a comment either way...

Yes. I asked that question in the Imbuing clarification thread and Leurocian responded confirming that we'd be able to start with 50 in imbuing and mysticism.

His response was over a month ago, so it's entirely possible the design has since changed. I think that was just after he submitted Imbuing to QA for clarification.

With no spare character slots myself, I'd like to see Imbuing able to be raised to 50 through unravelling also. I don't want to be disadvantaged for having bought extra character slots and having used them. Either that or convert Item ID to Imbuing, but that would make me instant-GM, which may disadvantage others.

it seems silly that gains from unraveling would stop at any point. maybe a decrease in gain rate... but not a dead stop.

if i understand right, your ability to obtain components from unraveling is dependent on your level of imbuing. if so, you should always be able to gain points by unraveling.

further, i imagine lots of people will use their characters strictly as scavengers and would rather just sell off the components instead of attempting to apply them. but the way it's set up, you HAVE to waste your components just to gain so you can get more components.

it's (sort of) like making mining gains completely dependent on performing blacksmithy... doesn't make sense.

Will the skill be purchasable to 30-40ish?

Will it have a training quest and speed gaining in New Haven?

I think it will be, but I don't recall that question being answered.

I like that Idea, I have 90+ Item ID skill laying around somewhere on a soulstone fragment.

Going to be a new skills.

They said youl could start with 50.

And I'm pretty sure somewhere in that thread is says you WON'T be able to train the skill from a trainer. Would need to be run up manually.

And I'm all for being able to take it to 50 by the way. See not reason why not.

I wonder, do you need gm or better Imbuing to get the most out of unravelling? Or is 25(50?) all you need to get the maximum return of resources? If it's gm/+ it's going to be a long, slow grind up to usable levels. I can't see any advantage in making Imbuing a horribly slow/expensive skill to gain.

That's one of the issues that will probably be discussed by the beta testers when SA goes beta and by the general community when the NDA is lifted. It is certainly a topic that should be discussed.

As for whether to turn item ID into imbuing. I'd be fine with that, but I have GM item ID on a soulstone :)

It would be cool to see item ID get some other cool ability instead, though.

I agree that imbuing will take a long time to get trained. Of all crafting skills, it will have the most scarce resources. I don't see that as a bad thing, though. Imbuing sounds like it will be very powerful and a very interesting crafting skill. It should be an adventure to train.

Didn't someone already specifically state this would not be the case? I thought they did but don't have a reference for certain.

That is correct. The current pre-beta design is to have Imbuing be a stand-alone skill. I was just saying that if they did make it a replacement skill that would be fine by me too.

I have other ideas of how item ID could become a useful skill without replacing it too. Either way, I'm content.

You and me both. I was just looking through my masses of jewlery and thinking how much of it I will be unraveling.

How about having Item Id tell you what kind of powder and item would render into?

Simple, Easy, Straight-Forward.
