for years, politicians across Sosaria have been taxing merchants and vendors for stocking items for sale. this is not a sales tax, mind you - it is a STOCK TAX, a concept unheard of in civilized government.

what's worse is that we, the citizens, have seen no benefit from the taxes. it's as if the millions collected every day simply disappear.

our cities go unfortified... no new construction is underway... cities are invaded and left to burn and rot... and many of our fellow Sosarians begin their careers virtually naked and penniless.

the government in Luna, for example, is one of the most corrupt individuals. he controls what is arguably one of the richest cities in the known world, yet he STILL seeks out "heroes" to shave the ears from innocent elves in order to fatten his own pockets...

i say it's time for some accountability.

too long have our vendors and merchants been unlawfully taxed. too long have we sat idly by while millions and billions of our hard earned gold is taken from us without a thing to show for it.

it is time to hold our government accountable.

i hereby demand that an account be given for the taxes of the past years and that this money be diverted into a fund to improve our cities and protect the welfare of our fellow citizens.

i'm just not sure how...

**no, this isn't RP... i'm really wondering where the vendor fees go**

Isn't it the vendor's cut of your profits?
Goes straight to their pockets, and then presumably the tavern, while their twins cover for them.

not a chance. it's a scam, i tell you.

if so... these "vendors" make more standing around (probably high as a kite to sit so still for so long) than do the heroes of our land risking life and limb for our safety.

no, talk to garrow... he's a greedy ******* and i know he's in on it.... i just can't prove it...

Yes, protecting us from the danger of ratmen and orcs milling about aimlessly in the wild heh.

hunh? Well, if it's not RP, then I'm pretty sure the answer is /dev/null.

If it were RP, I would point out that "GUARDS!" is not cheap and the maintenance of walls and monuments has been such that hardly a pixel has changed in all these years.

(there was a serious glitch with the maintenance of roads a year or so ago, but tax revenues have declined a little in the recent recession)

inventory tax is real.
