i've got 5 tamers on 5 shards. I used advanced char tokens for the tamers buying them with gold the tokens. I never work taming only animal lore and buy the greater dragons for someone else and the cu sidhes. I work my animal lore upto at least 115 or you have a problem controlling the animals. I use the taming tally you get from the Library donations, taming jewlery to get upto 115 or 120. The chars are good to use.

Cheaper to buy the advanced char tokens from other player with ingame gold

Oh well then hon please...I paid 30$ for an avd tok. Oh btw..I have taken 2 chars to AT least Gm here. But you seem to know some magic trick. so share with the rest of of us. At 85 to 90 on all tamer stats I PAID for...This little char can not control a LESSER hiryu..a LESSER. I can't give a single comand to.
I would do 50-110 taming lore in a week for 30 bucks.

I'm a returning tamer who came back a week or so to Siege after about 2-3 years off. My skills were gained under ROT which was a big pain. This thread implies to someone like me that big changes have been made. I'm aware of greater dragons - I saw one and that was it.

Simple question and my real skills are 110/110/114.2 for Lore/Tame/Vet respectively. Has anything changed in this game that would cause me to be unable on Siege to control the mare/dragon combo that I ran with before? Thanks.

No change. You'll have total control of your pets. For high end content you'll probably want a greater dragon though which you'll be able to control with your skill level with no problem.

I'm glad that you cant control highend pets without highend skill. Advanced char tokens and skill jewels should be removed from the game. I have gained 100% of my skills while playing the game, which is how it should be. You want to fight with a greater dragon, then put the time in to training.

Swords and fencing are alot easier to gain, but my fully trained mare and dread will tear up anything out there alot faster then any dexxer.

If you want the most powerful pets, earn the skill to use them.

I think the problem isn't that you can't have the most powerful pets, but that there is nothing in the moderate range...

You've obviously never seen a pack of frenzied ostards in action.

I would use my imp or single Grizly against any one who says nothing mid ranged... but my account was hacked and those lovely oldschool pets are gone :(

Yup.
Yet forms are the only thing they think to +skill item nerf.

Forms haven't been nerfed. If you +skill item up to get a form you have that form just as long as you keep your +skill items on. Just like a tamer. A tamer who takes off their +skill items can no longer control a pet above the level they normally have control ability on.

I didn't say they had, I said skill items for forms only yet skill items for taming is fine.

I have 88 taming can put on jewlery tame/train/bond greater dragons then take it off again... if I chose I could take the pet around on guard with the jewlery off too.

When you take off jewlery for forms you lose the form, when you take off the items for taming you should lose the pets. Control chance isn't the end product of being a tamer, holding pets is.

Tell them to try Drakes. 2x Drake is a fine combination and easy to control.

Wow, I would expect more from a mod. :(
I did the tamer max twice. Close to a 3RD.

Expect more? What you want him to logon your account and train the skill for you???

The pathetic part is people like you comming here crying about this, when you know very well tamers are the most overpowered template in PvP at the moment, and you want it to be easier for them to get their dragons?

Suck it up, it's cake to 110 taming/120 lore, which is more than enough to control any creature in the game.

taming is a witch to gain and takes forever... and yes, you really aren't viable under legendary... maybe tamers were overpowered.. but they work the hardest to get there
That's a ridiculous statement. You don't need over 110 taming. That's what I have, I use my greater all the time with no issue. It disobeys me like one time out of 100 commands, then the next command raises its loyalty again.

And again, its not hard to raise, its just boring. And again, since tamers don't NEED any special jewelry they can feel free to load up on skill jewels and avoid the training.

And its a baseless complaint. There are tons of great mid level pets.

I can't run, I try to cast invis and bleed and the spells from the greater dragon fizzles me. .
Quickly cast protection? It is a very fast spell and extremely useful in certain situations. Also invis/teleportation rings are very nice in such cases if you can get your hands on some - not saying super dragons are not annoying as hell just giving you alternatives for now.

Raising taming is a pain so this is how I did mine-

Advanced char token (85) + bird talisman(5) + jewelry (30) +120 scroll = 120 taming

Other things to consider:

No matter how high your taming is, your control chance never goes above 99%. So a frenzied ostard will disobey just as often with 90/90 taming/lore as with 120/120. Same with bake kitsune.

My second tamer has 87/87 taming/lore and hunts with 2 bake kitsune, and is just as effective as my first tamer with 110/110 taming/lore.

I have a tamer on one of the shards I don't usually play on whose maximum skill is 60 taming. That character hunts with a pack of timber wolves and does very well (at least until a wolf dies, then it's off to the banks to beg for a res). I can't do high end content with that character, but cyclops and titans are no trouble.

Your control chances depend on animal lore as much as taming. If you bring your lore to 110, with your 108 taming, you can easily control everything short of fire steeds and dread war horses (And those you can control most of the time as well)
